Looking at this draft, it's extremely deep but not exactly in star potential front court players that we need. Philly needs a PG with strong scoring instincts of which the best is Fultz that will not get past the #1pick.

I would trade the 2017 Nets pick for Simmons straight up and focus on player development for the next 5 years with Brown, Simmons,  Zizic,  Nader.

Would you do the same?

if the Brooklyn pick ends up #1 and Simmons ends up getting a clean bill of health from the C's medical staff, I strongly consider it.  would probably ask the Sixers to kick in something else with Simmons.  I'm sure most would laugh at that but the reason I do it is that whoever they take at #1 will be the PG they need more than a point forward and will be one year longer under cost control.  also, Simmons doesn't solve our issues of a big man that can rebound and defend nor is he the scoring wing we need.   he's at his best with the ball in his hands which won't happen much with IT on the team.

No -- but I would have to think about it. And might even change my mind. It is a tough one.

Went with no because of concerns of Simmons' jump-shooting and willingness to play defense. Questionable mentality on the court. He has the talent to be more valuable than any one player in this draft but he is a guy who I have fears about reaching / fulfilling his potential.

Even if the Brooklyn pick winds up #1, I think this is a no brainer. Trading a #1 for a #1 that fits the roster needs sounds good to me.

Obviously this would entail Simmons getting a strong physical from the C's medical staff, but Simmons looks like a star, especially in Brad's system. Having him and Jaylen to build around for the foreseeable future would be incredible.

No, I would not. Simmons has not proved anything in the NBA. Of course the BKN17 has not proved anything either, but Simmons has not been able to stay on the court so that is a red flag that cannot be overlooked. And the most important reason of all, Fultz is better.

If our Doctors OK him, Id do it, but foot injuries on big people (simmons is 6'10", 240) are major red flags.

My gut is just telling me no. It's hard to say why. There's something I don't like about Simmons and I don't even know what. I have no rational reason here

I really don't know, but if the players are of equal talent/prospects and one has essentially one less year on his rookie deal and a slow healing broken bone in his foot you can't really trade for that.

You have to look at both the pros and the cons.

Cons:

1. Both Fultz and Ball project to be better than Simmons. Of course this is subjective but many scouts and services give Fultz and Ball a higher score than Simmons had last year.
2. Simmons, of course, has been injured this year.
3. You're getting one fewer year of production from Simmons than Fultz or Ball.

Pros:

1. Simmons plays more of a position of need for the Celtics.
2. The Nets pick isn't guaranteed to get Ball or Fultz. It could be #4 in which case Simmons would be a better ranked prospect.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.
