A team built around IT, Smart and Fultz doesn't make much sense, in a variety of ways. And the Cs are going to have to give IT the max, if they intend to keep him.
Horford obviously fits a team designed to win over the next couple of years.
I know this would be panned, but raised it anyway. Because the easy answer is no, but the Nets picks do pose an interesting dilemma.
Which team is going to win more titles? A team built around IT, Horford, Bradley, and Crowder, with Brown, Fultz, Smart, and others filling in the seams?
Or a team built around Fultz, Smart, Rozier, Jackson, Brown, Chriss, Olynyk, and two top 5 picks in next years draft? That's a pretty compelling core. How to pay those kids altogether at the ends of their respective rookie deals would present a problem, of course.
It's obviously unlikely -- with PHX, or anyone else. Just thought I'd raise a larger conceptual idea that's NOT tied to Jimmy Butler, Paul George....... or Demarcus Cousins. Thought it could make for slightly more thoughtful debate.
