Sacramento just needs to admit that they have done a terrible job surrounding cousins with talent. Barring a miracle in the draft or in free agency the best they can strive for next year is the eighth spot in the west if they're lucky.

There are a number of teams who will be ready to make a sizable offer to the Kings for DeMarcus Cousins.

He is still young and on a good contract. He's one of the most productive players in the NBA. He has no real history with injuries and is incredibly durable. Cousins will command a lot in return on the trade market. The Kings know this and not would be dumb not to use his talents to start building a good you team. Collison and Gay aren't cutting it.

Prediction: Sac smartens up and trades Cousins for a top 5 pick, Chriss, Bender, and filler and PHX becomes the 2nd best team in the west...

Other teams who could make a significant offer..

BOS (Jaylen brown, Avery Bradley, top 4 pick)
MIN (Kriss Dunn, Zach Lavine, 2017 1st)
ORL (Vucevic, Gordon, 2017 1st
PHI (Okafor, Saric, 2017 1st)
LAL (Randle, Clarkson, 2017 1st)
DEN (Murray, Faried, 2017 + 2018 1st)

we can beat that PHX offer. what makes them 2nd in the west exactly?
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Bledsoe
Booker / Knigt
Warren / Tucker
FA (Ibaka or Milsap)
Cousins / Len / Chandler

Would be a really good team and put them ahead of the clippers or Spurs in my mind. West isn't that strong really) except for the Warriors.

Doesn't mean we should. I like the idea of getting Cousins in the free agency, but not on a trade, especially if it includes our promising prospects and BKN picks.

2nd team in the West??? Not even close. Middle of the road playoff team at best in my book.

We can crush a Phoenix offer, and even if Phoenix wanted to send a godfather offer and we didn't, they wouldn't be a contender with Cousins and would have just mortgaged their future. If the Kings decide to trade Cousins and we want him, he's ours. There is no other team in the league that can make an offer as good as ours and still have a championship level team leftover.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

That's not a top 2 East team much less West! Cousins hasn't made a team a playoff one yet and that Suns team without Cousins is terrible. Bring them together and they may make the playoffs.

Mortgaged their future?  There were 4 presumed starters named:  Bledsoe is 27, Booker is 20, Warren is 23, Cousins is 26.  All of the are either before their primes or just entering their primes.

TP perks, I think this is a terrific trade idea for Phoenix.  I don't think it makes them instant #2 in the West necessarily, but if adding Cousins to that roster is not worth doing, then I don't know what would be (in the realm of possibilities).  It will take a while for chemistry to develop on this team, but when it does, they will be very good.  I then would think trading some scorers (like Warren) for some more role-type players (like an Aminu) would end up serving this roster well.
