  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Celtics get: Blake Griffin

Clippers get: Carmelo, Ibaka, Rozier

Knicks get: Brooklyn 18' pick, Crawford, Zeller.

Magic get: 2018 Boston first, Amir Johnson.

We give up 2018 Brooklyn, Rozier, 2018 Celtics pick.
Keep 2017 BRK pick and Brown.
IT
AB
Crowder
Griffin
Horford

Smart
KO
Brown
Jerebko

Thoughts?

A small hitch that might get the Clippers more interested is including Avery Bradley going to the Clippers and the Celtics getting JJ Reddick back, but I think that's plenty for all sides.

Clippers get: Carmelo, Ibaka, Rozier

Knicks get: Brooklyn 18' pick, Crawford, Zeller, Clippers 2020 pick.

Magic get: 2018 Boston first, Amir Johnson.

I truthfully don't think Griffin is worth all that now thanks to his injury troubles. Plus he's an expiring as of now.

Also.. how do the Knicks and Clippers get away with great hauls in that? Wow.

Clippers get all that for a 2020 pick and Griffin? Knicks get a BKN pick for Melo...?

The 2018 pick is a lot for Melo, and could be substituted for 2019 Memphis pick, but we are essentially getting Blake Griffin for the 2018 pick+Rozier+our own late first round pick which isn't bad. I took out the Clippers pick (from us) going to the Knicks because you're right, they don't need that much. We can have it instead in a pick swap with Clippers.

As with all trades it depends how much you value Griffin. I think he's a top 10 player when healthy.

Yeah I think so too. If Griffin could come here with a long term commitment, I guess I would pull the trigger.

I don't want to deal those assets for a potential expiring that could be Griffin though.

That's a pretty good deal for all, I think.

Boston can't be a win-now team with Jerebko as their backup center, but it's not a bad value trade for all involved.  The problem is that I don't believe Ainge is going to give up any assets for somebody he might be able to get as a free agent this off season.

The ultimate question will be answered in the playoffs.  Is this core legitimately a Cousins or a Butler away from contention?

Clippers are hard-capped.  This deal puts them over the hard cap by about $6 million.  So they need send out more/take on less.
