Our Brooklyn pick boils down to

1. Our pick
2. The right to trade it with theirs if it's higher, which it 100% will be.

This dummy seems to think trading "the Brooklyn pick" only means trading Step 2. So the team we traded with could only swap their own 1st with Brooklyn. Very wrong.

It's one thing for a journalist to not know how some rarish cap technicality works, but how on Earth does a professional come to think trading for a "swap rights" pick means you're just transferring the swap rights, and not getting the better of the two swapable picks?

It's even fine to me if he doesn't know how swap rights work; I just can't believe he was so sure of himself that it worked this way and not the correct way that he didn't even feel the need to fact check it. Seems like something you should at least ponder  as you are writing the article.
