http://www.foxsports.com/nba/gallery/boston-celtics-nba-trade-deadline-jimmy-butler-demarcus-cousins-carmelo-anthony-draft-pick-020817

seemed click-baity.
Read the article and didnt regret it. Lynch has no idea what he is talking about
" First, you don't just get the Nets pick outright; you have to give up your own. While that's worth it for a team late in the lottery or in the playoff hunt, acquiring Brooklyn's pick this year isn't nearly as valuable as it would be without the swap."

lol. thats not how the swap works.

he doubles down on this in his discussion of the '18 pick just to prove that he really has no idea what he is talking about

"this pick is nearly as valuable as the 2017 selection. You're essentially exchanging the possibility the Nets improve for the right to keep your own pick rather than sending it back to Boston, as with the aforementioned asset."

He then just basically lists Bradley Crowder and Brown and says they arent that valuable with literally 0 analysis aside from saying Brown is not James Harden.

Truly horrible article. Good read for some laughs.

Even if he hadnt massively ****ed up in his understanding of the rules of a pick-swap, the article would still be utterly devoid of analysis.

He seriously thinks any team that trades with us for the '17 BK pick---must swap their own pick---?

IDIOT.

Main question about the article is how this guy has that job?

I would say lynch is the one who's overrated.... But I don't even know who he is

Edit: at the VERY LEAST we have the best odds in the upcoming draft....that's a decent asset. Who cares if we have to give up our own (the swap)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he's a laker fan..most D bags are

the point is that WE, we the Boston Celtics, must give up our pick in the swap. The team we trade the pick to doesnt. He was fundamentally wrong in his understanding of a fairly simple rule. Thats fine if he is a fan like you or me, but when you get paid to write about basketball and you write a basketball article centering around an asset you lack the primitive basketball knowledge to understand, that is pathetic.

How can he complicate a simple thing like the Cs having the right to swap picks with the Nets in the 2017 draft, and that the 2018 Brooklyn pick is just what it is with no "right to swap" connected to it.  And how can he overlook the current contracts of AB and Jae with regards to what these guys can bring to the table -- elite defense and reliable three point shooting. Just wow.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
It's one thing for a journalist to not know how some rarish cap technicality works, but how on Earth does a professional come to think trading for a "swap rights" pick means you're just transferring the swap rights, and not getting the better of the two swapable picks?

Someone should contact Andrew and tell him to join Celtics Blog. He can get his butt handed to him by the smartest fans in the world.

Maybe he won't print such trash next time.

Andrew Lynch is overrated.

But seriously it's nauseating to think we have like 2 more weeks of this stuff....half truth rumors...half lie rumors....various "sources"....
