Looks like the Butler rumors for tonight are over.

Rumors have gone ice cold involving Butler the past four hours lol.

Almost too quiet...

Don't worry.

All we need now is Jerebko to post a smiley emoji, and the party is back on tonight!

2 hours to go but seems like nada on the Butler front.

Looks like Bulls will keep him.

But with PG13 saying he will likely go LAL after 2018, who knows?

Maybe it was a smart move for Ainge not to overpay for Butler.

Watching this Cavs-Bulls game (WITHOUT Lebron), and Butler has 3 points in 21 minutes (1-6 shooting).

His defense has looked good and he does have 7 assists, 7 rebounds. But still..

Youre describing a strength of Jimmy's, not a weakness. If his shot isn't falling he finds other ways to help the team.

Ended up with a triple double.

I agree with not trading for him though.

Idk if it's solely due to his injury, but Butler has been STRUGGLING LATELY.

14 points on 4/16 shooting in 40 minutes in a loss vs MEM two nights ago.

Now pretty much a non factor again against Washington.

He's averaging 17/6/6 last 10 games in 36 MPG. Not bad, but certainly not elite numbers.

Again, smart move not overpaying for him at the deadline.

But this summer I'm thinking the best I offer for him is 2017 BKN Pick + Filler. Otherwise, no deal. Doesn't seem like he's worth giving up that pick and Brown and Crowder/Smart, etc.

If we are able to sign Hayward, I am at the point where I would deal AB, Crowder, and the Mem pick, but not a BKN pick. Seems stingy, I know, but I am loving our team right now (plus we would be giving up an amazing contract in Crowder).

I only bring this up because it is the only way to acquire Butler since we would have no cap space.

Anyway, thanks for the update - Butler has got to be pretty frustrated. The future does not look bright in Chicago.

Yep, exactly.

Although I'm not a fan of trading BOTH Bradley and Crowder in a deal for Butler honestly.

I feel the production of Bradley + Crowder > Butler alone.

Definitely a possibility though (Hayward/Griffin + Butler).

Ainge seems like someone who would make that happen.

UPDATE: Spoke a bit too soon. Butler coming alive now. 20 points.

Butler with 37 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists (52 % shooting, 44 minutes) .

In fact Butler scored like 9 of their final 11 points from the 6:30 mark of the 4th to the end of OT. WOW. SAD. And they lost 122-120 to TOR.

Bulls should just fold the franchise and hit the rebuild button. Wade isn't saving them in the next few years either.

Maybe Butler can be had a lot cheaper this summer (an option to consider  8) )

So did the playoffs change your view on Butler overall?

I think the only reason I make a trade for Butler is if the pick is not #1 or #2, and they aren't asking for much after that.

Lot depends on what the Bulls choose to do, and on Wade's player option (~23-24M).

If they hit full on rebuild, probably that Nets Pick at #3/4 + smaller pieces could get it done.

Otherwise, if they want more, forget it.

And I love Bradley/Smart, but we have to monitor their contract situations. I'd love to see them keep ALL of IT/Smart/Bradley, but I think one of them won't stay after 2018 unless Wyc will pay a monster luxury tax (which hey, I hope he does if it means keeping the team, but it's his call).

On the front page of the blog.

Looks like Butler could be out of Chicago this summer.

Bulls fans are mad at GarPax for that "lame conference" LOL. But they don't look confident about keeping Butler now, even saying he's a "hindrance" to Hoiberg's coaching style

Meanwhile, Rondo and Hoiberg will likely stay. Lol what a mess for them.

Something to monitor is how much Butler's price has gone down.

Butler is great and all and I would love to have him, but if Danny plans on using cap space to acquire a FA or two (preferably one great one) or 'absorb' somebody like Carmelo, then we would need to match salaries. I wouldn't offer more than what I listed above: AB, Crowder, non-BKN picks.

I know you said that you might not want to trade both of them, but there is really no other way without including Smart or Brown plus other smaller pieces. Also, consolidating two very good players to one superstar level player would make a lot of sense. I hate to deal away Crowder and that valuable salary, but that's the price to pay for such an upgrade.

I'd deal Crowder in a deal for Butler in a heartbeat. That would be such a massive upgrade and keep in mind that Butler was maxed out before the cap exploded, so he's on a valuable deal too.

I also think fans need to be realistic - if Chicago deals Butler, they're rebuilding. They're not moving him for two 27 year old rotation guys and a non-BKN pick. They'd have to get a good prospect that could potentially be a franchise guy and/or a pick that could get them there. If I'm Bulls management and you offer me AB/Jae/non-BKN pick, I'm hanging up. Start the convo with one of the BKN picks or don't bother.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

So I read some Blog A Bull articles regarding Butler trades, and they would want BOTH BKN Picks, another smaller piece (future pick I guess), and then 1-2 of our players such as one of Bradley/Smart and one of Brown/Crowder. LOL.

My guess is he is either staying in CHI or going to Minnesota or Phoenix.

Pretty funny how there were talks about Kris Dunn and filler being enough for Chicago last year. That seems ridiculous now.

I am ok with passing on Butler. He is a good, not great, NBA player.

Yeah, it's strange. I think they were asking for a ton last year too (#3, #16, Smart and Crowder for Butler), but honestly that's still less in value than what they are asking for now.
