Meh...I wish it would have been Dunkin Donuts!
LOL, that would have been hilarious but I doubt they even need the advertising around here.

This should have been the jersey logo

Dissapointing. I dont ever want to hear about the luxury tax after this. You put GE on the Celtics uniforms, you pay the ****ing bill to win games.

Good point.

I think the deal is going to be worth a few million annually, but it seems like this is more than just a jersey sponsership

I'm in the minority having no problem with this.  The players have been walking billboards for years, with huge corporate sponsorships on all the players feet.  And it's already rare that I see a piece of Celtics merchandise without a Nike, Adidas, etc. logo somewhere.  What do you guys think those are?

They currently have All-Star jersey's with Kia patches for sale on the NBA Store.

Do I think they look better without them? Sure.  Will this make the All-Star game any less interesting?  Nope.  Do I watch sports because of what the jersey's look like?  They can be patched up like NASCAR or playing shirts and skins, it's really all the same to me.

On the list of things I'd like changed in basketball, this is at the very bottom of the list.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Yeah, it's really not a stretch to add something like GE.

I just wish it had been Bernie and Phyls.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Honey Dew and Dunkin couldn't team up?

Read that last line again. One more time.

Pretty discreet. Not bad at all.

GE just moved their corporate HQs to the Seaport District, so it's only logical I think.

The Celtics have now sold rights to General Electric (GE) to put their logo on the jerseys.

Maybe this is old news and I'm just now seeing this, but does this bother anyone else? I understand this thing is big in soccer, etc., but they make more than enough money from TV, advertising, etc, that they don't need to sell out the Celtics name.

What has Wyc or GE accomplished on the parquet to say this: "We've got Auerbach, we've got Russell, we've got Bird, and now we've got Thomas Edison."  Talk about selling out the history of the Celtics... I'd be interested to hear others points of view.

At the end of the day, it's a little patch on the jersey, and it really doesn't take away from the classic look at all. Hopefully they do something positive with the increased ad revenue.
