Barring unforeseen moves, I think the Celtics should sign Nader, Zizic and Yabusele for next year. There will always be the D-League to keep them fresh if there aren't enough minutes. You can never have too many assets. That is a good problem to have.
That being said, if the top picks are guards, it doesn't make sense for Danny to draft one if those are the best players available. This isn't about stepping on Rondo's toes by drafting Smart. I think it would be much worse and cause tension.
We look strong and deep at every position but for bigs and probably for a center who can fit in well with Al and Kelly.
Unfortunately, Zizac might not be ready by next year. Amir may or may not return.
I have to admit Cousins or Noel makes the most sense. However, Cousins would cost us the pick plus much more. It would be an overprice for Noel. I don't see any way of getting Cousins without being ripped off which would neutralize the move.
I hope Danny can get lucky and do what the Cavs did trading Wiggins for Love. I like that Brooklyn looks like a guaranteed top five pick, but unless there is a phenom big to draft, it seems pointless and perhaps even dangerous to team chemistry to draft a guard.
But I guess if there is no trade that makes sense, Danny will draft a guard and then all of a sudden it will be very crowded with contracts running out.
One of the biggest reasons why we have become a top team is due to atmosphere. Danny has a lot of work ahead for himself and it will be very interesting to see how the roster evolves.
