It's being reported that Butler is one of the All-Star starters in the East: https://twitter.com/ChrisBHaynes/status/822208954214191104

So who else do you think gets it? Here's my guess:

East:

Guard: IT
Guard: Derozan
Forward: Butler
Forward: James
Forward/Center: Giannis

West:

Guard: Westbrook
Guard: Harden
Forward: Leonard
Forward: Durant
Forward/Center: Davis

Was going to put Boogie over Davis, but I think Davis gets the nod here due to the context of all of the injuries his team has dealt with, all while still being tied with the Kings in the standings.

Bummer Thomas isn't getting the start, but Kyrie and DeRozan had a case as well.  At least Wade isn't starting.

Westbrook isn't starting either... so there's that.

Chuck preaching out there. I'm all for taking the fan vote away.

Is it an event for fans or players?

Thats what it boils down to.

Basically the fans dont know anything and that the players/media should choose the All Stars. IT and Derozen tied at 2.75 but Derozen won the player because of the tie breaker, even though Isaiah was 2nd in player vote and 1st in media vote. He said IT is 3rd in the MVP race. He put forward the same argument for Westbrook.
Edit: forgot to mention Chuck was against Kyrie and not Derozen

I'm sympathetic but that argument doesn't hold up well when you look at the actual player votes - plenty of dumb selections there too. Zaza still got 19 player votes! Ben Simmons got 3, etc. Top of the list looks better but still a lot of headscratching choices.

It's a bummer IT didn't make it but at least there is no Wade or Zaza in the lineup.

Pretty good list. I think Isaiah earned it over Irving but otherwise and if Derozan is the other guard, I think Lowry probably deserves the spot over him. But I assume all 4 will make the team so I don't mind.

The West starters are exactly who I've been voting for.
1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008

Turns out IT did lose the tiebreaker over DeRozan due to fan vote, but only tied because he squeaked past him by 1 player vote.

Partly why I'm not a huge fan of using ranking order instead of something that accounts for how far apart totals were. Tough to equate those between hundreds of players and millions of fans though.
