It's not really Carmelo Anthony's fault here, and in fact he deserves every right to not waive his no-trade clause and stay out his time in New York as he loves the city. Melo played it smart and got his no-trade clause added to his contract to his advantage. The real losers here are the Knicks and the front office that gave him his no-trade clause.

The goal should be to start rebuilding around Porzingis and trading Melo for great value. Problem is, Melo has his no-trade clause. Recently, Melo came out saying "If Phil wants me out of NY, then we should talk about it", and then in the article above, it states that they had a meeting and Phil asked "Do you want to stay in NY", and Melo obviously said yes. So essentially they are "stuck" with Melo and likely stuck in mediocrity for years to come, even as KP grows and improves.

Then there's the issue of Derrick Rose and him vanishing one game, and while he may have had his reasons, it still paints a bad picture in a way since the Knicks officials and FO had no idea where he was while a game was being played. Also, Rose is not helping the team as much as expected, and he could demand a max contract soon (LOL).

Add in the fact that the Knicks are stuck with Joakim Noah and his contract for a while, and yeah, things could get real ugly for the Knicks. Looks like even Carmelo Anthony foresees his time in NY to be short-lived, especially if it's becoming more obvious they don't want him there. And the only way they could enter contention is if they got a player like Durant last season, or either Durant/Curry this season (0% chance).

I would love to see Melo go to the Clippers to add more intrigue to the West, and I think he would actually be a good fit there, but with CP3 now injured for a while, the Clips will still make the playoffs but they probably still wouldn't be much of a threat anymore.

Also, Phil Jackson is proving that he can't be an architect of a team, because so far even with his influence he can't really bring any stars there, and the Knicks have been horrible the past few seasons. Sure, he got Porzingis, but that's about it. And he's so adamant on enforcing the triangle despite it not working at all for the Knicks, and honestly, it looks like the idea of enforcing the "triangle offense" is the only thing keeping Phil relevant in NY right now. Yes, Phil has had an exceptional career, no questions asked, but with the Knicks, not so much.

Add those things together and it's a recipe for DISASTER.
