So every trade involving the 2017 nets pick is straight up.  What we all forget is we can put restrictions on this still.  I see only one franchise changer in this draft and it's Fultz, make a trade of something like Bradley and nets pick this year top 1 protected for Wiggins and their first.  Makes sense for both teams and adds youth and still a top 10 pick to get a Giles or possibly Tatum in this draft.
Not saying Wiggins is definitely the choice but Bradley is more valuable now than he is next year due to it not being an expiring deal.  Protect that pick and get something big...... it's still valuable as hell

Pretty sure you can't protect a pick you acquire from someone else
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

We can't add protections on a draft pick that didn't originate with us. This came up last year with the 2016 pick, it got a little exciting and then it got shut down when someone read the CBA in depth

You can now put protections on unprotected picks beginning this draft.

Danny deserves tremendous credit for that trade. He MUST have known how unpopular it would be, not sure he gets a lifetime Auerbach pass, but it's close.

No way in hell he could have predicted three straight years of Top 3 picks, but he probably saw the wheels falling off Deron, and KG.

I don't think we can credit him too greatly for IT - he was doubtless brought in as a placeholder.. And that stuff he wrote in the tribune is nice but I bet that is Stevens boilerplate pep.

However I think Crowder is his best work: he saw that dudes hustle for sure.

We talk a lot about this team's underperforming defense, despite Danny seemingly looking to create a defense first juggernaut, but that probably comes down to bad rebounding - probably Danny's main concern at the moment.

Fair point but the 2017 pick isn't unprotected it is a pick swap.

So we have options to put protections on the 2018 pick? That's beneficial.
