So I thought about the C's needs and Melo wanting Clippers as a possible spot. In this trade I'd think C's give up Nets 2018, Clippers and Grizz 1st all to Knicks. It's basically a rebuild package for Knicks as the would be clearing a lot of cap and getting a 3 first. Clippers get Melo.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=hafb89h

C's
Starters= IT, AB, Crowder, Horford, Jordan
Bench=Smart, Redick, Green, Brown, KO
Reserves=DJ, Mickey, Young

Clippers
Starters= CP3, Rivers, Melo, Griffin, Speights
Bench=Felton, Crawford, Pierce, Bass, O'Quinn

They did a bleacher report on this and word is they do not want to trade JJ or Jordon......They have a window and want to play to win NOW.... They wouldn't do this.

Melo isn't a win NOW player? It's a very good deal for Clippers since they have Speights and get Quinn too. Their offense would be hard to handle and they could score with the Warriors if they added Melo. It gives them a legit big three.

I think giving up Jordan and Redick for Melo probably makes the Clippers worse.

Would LAC be willing to give up Griffin in such a deal? I know it seems far-fetched, but he is a free agent and he has had a couple of issues within the organization.

LAC and NYK may have mutual interest, but LA has to be willing to give up something of value. If Griffin, Jordan and JJ are staying, that would mean the contracts of Crawford and Rivers would likely need to be included - I can't really think of anything less underwhelming than that and it's not like they have other quality assets to include. Also, their salary cap situation would explode next year with Griffin and Paul set for new max contracts.

It's far more likely that Griffin gets traded. Jordan and Paul have always played well together.

Plus Clippers pick and 2018 Nets pick to the Knicks.

We get Griffin and first dibs on resigning him. Pierce comes home.

Clippers get to forwards who can shoot and a playmaking scorer in Melo.

Knicks get Rozier, picks, and a new direction.

Very short term yes because chemistry. But I feel after a month the team would gel and be a bigger playoff threat. Also no way this off season were they going to keep Redick so for them it's almost Jordan for Melo.

I don't mind this either, it would suck to see Crowder go but we more than make it up by having Blake here, solving also our rebounding issues while giving BRown a chance to start and contribute

Clippers ownership and Doc value Griffin far more than Jordan. When CP3 went down a while back Griffin played at an MVP level to keep the team a float. No way I see Clippers and Griffin parting ways. We already seen Doc want to walk away from Jordan. The team had to convince Doc to go back after him.

Imo I don't think we need another guard if we r not trading bradley or smart....even tho I really like Reddick.

Also I kinda think the clippers may be more interested in trading griffin as they could lose him is FA soon.

Here is a quick idea I threw together:
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=hy6n5s7

Basics=
Knicks get- AJ crowder Rozier and picks (u tell me which ones)
Clippers get- Melo and KO
CELTICS get- wes johnson and griffin

Gives us a star. Knicks can rebuild plus have a huge discounted qualityou sf with crowder. Clippers upgrade SF have Pierce to back up Melo and KO/bass replace griffin....

Are we assuming a commitment from Griffin to resign as a necessary cog in the deal?

I just can't see the Clippers being okay with losing Jordan or Griffin. They need a pure scorer, but Jordan anchors their defense, and Blake Griffin is an MVP in his own right.

Plus Garnett signing as a consultant for Jordan and Griffin's game, shouldn't be ignored. Rivers should be smart and stay the course, and makes decision from the end of this season before trading anyone away immediately. Paul is pretty much committed, and Griffin shows signs he's going to stay.

In the event of anything, if we get Griffin, I want any communicated signs of agreements about extension. Ainge never ever makes irrational decisions. I would rather he stay patient, and try to go after Griffin in the free agency.

I don't think this would ever happen, but I think it is a reasonable enough trade for both teams

BOS - Griffin, Crawford, W. Johnson, Pierce
LAC - Anthony, Bradley, A. Johnson, LAC 1st
NY - Brown, Olynyk, Zeller, BOS 17 1st

So Boston post-trade
PG - Thomas, Rozier
SG - Smart, Crawford, Young
SF - Crowder, Johnson, Pierce
PF - Griffin, Jerekbo, Mickey
C - Horford
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

If the Celtics could get Griffin somehow...that would be so nice.

Clips have won without Griffin...not without Paul though.

There's at least a reasonable chance that he leaves them at the end of this year.
