Sam Perkins is an interesting one. Highly touted out of college, long career, played on lots of good teams.

He was on all-rookie team but that's it.

I am still gonna go with Big Shot Bob Horry with just a 2nd team all-rookie.

Sam is number 1 in my book so far.
He was a 2nd best starter on a '91 Lakers finals team,
Super sub on '96 Sonics finals team
And a usefull veteran bench player on a '01 Pacers finals team.
He could be teleported in todays game smoothly.
Perkins played in 15 playoffs and 167 playoff games.
Thats can't be described as nothing to me.

Horry has 7 rings. It is hard to state he has not won.

The title of the thread is a bit misleading as anyone that made it to the NBA has done something.

I would go with perhaps Roy Tarpley.  Despite initial accolades similar to Odom's his NBA career ended with much less fanfare and he passed away 2 yeares ago at 50.

Lamar Odom comes close, but he made All-Rookie (to me, a minor award) and 6MOY (a bigger one). He never made an All-Star team, though.

I was always surprised Mike Bibby never made an All-Star team, as important as he was to those really good Kings teams.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim?

Third pick in the 1996 draft.  Averaged 18 pts and about 8 rebounds per game.  Played 11 seasons and only went to the playoffs once.  For awhile shared the nba record for most games played without a playoff appearance.

Only problem is that he was an all star one year and won the gold in 2000.

Not doing research but what about:
Sam Perkins
Otis Thorpe
Buck Williams

3 pf types that I don't remember winning any individual awards (maybe williams)

Williams out for sure, surprised thorpe made an all star team with the competition then so he's out also

Len Bias :(

I wanted to list Derrick Coleman here b/c his career fell way short of it's potential, but he did go to one all-star game.  Should have been 10+

Right now Perkins seems like the best choice.  As another poster stated, his game would translate very well into today's nba.  I'm really shocked he didn't have more accolades.. he was quite good during his career.  I also remember playing him in an old Genesis nba game and his 3-point shot was a back breaker to the opponent!

I tend to think that All-Rookie 1st/2nd Team means very, very little.

If we agree on that, then I'd suggest the following names:

Sam Perkins -- 105 career Win Shares, never made All-Star, All-NBA, All-NBA defense, or won any year-end awards or an NBA championship.

Andre Miller -- 100.8 career Win Shares, never made All-Star, All-NBA, All-NBA defense, or won any year-end awards or an NBA championship.  Claim to fame is he led the league in assists in 2002 and otherwise has been a competent ball-handler since dinosaurs roamed the planet.

Rod Strickland -- 85.8 career Win Shares, led the league in assists in 1998, otherwise no significant accomplishments.

Richard Jefferson -- 81.7 career Win Shares, biggest accomplishment is winning a title with the Cavs playing 18 minutes per game.
Best post of the thread.  It's one of these 3 guys.

He was the first guy I looked up. We'll never really know if he was just a "big numbers on bad teams" guy or something more.

Antawn Jamison came to mind for me, but then I was surprised to see he played in two all star games.

Jason Terry ?

Great scorer, I think he won sixth man of the year and has all rookie 2nd team appearance.

Always liked him.

Peja Stojakovic also came to mind, but he made an all star game or two.

What about AC Green.

You mean 1989 All-Star Starter AC Green?  ;)

He got an All-Defensive team too.

Uggghh.  I remember having major Laker hate for that ballot stuffing job.
Yup
