This guy seems like a classic stretch four!!!

Any seen him play???

Slotted to go #8 on draftexpress.com and #12 on nbadraft.net.  I expect him to climb a little perhaps.

I've seen him play and despite being a good shooter he doesn't finish well around the rim, or take that many shots for that matter either, and really sits around the perimeter. A good comparison I heard for him was Channing Frye, but honestly he probably ends up as a more consistent shooting Olynyk in the NBA. Also not a good defender either

Thanks for the input!!  The LAST thing we need is another Charmin Olynyk!!!!!!!!!!

Seems a bit Dragan Bender-esque in that he's a wing in a big's body.  More offensive potential and less defensive potential relative to Bender though.

Given that Danny wasn't high on Bender, don't think he'd be high on this guy either.

Great words from a great man

I know that Olynyk has his haters on this board, and therefore any stretch 4 white guy will also have haters, but this dude is putting up numbers lately.

In the last five, he is averaging 20 ppg on 65% fg, 68% 3fg, and 85% ft. He is also averaging 7 rebounds a game while playing mostly on the perimeter. For the season he is averaging 17ppg on 51, 47, 83 splits with 7 rebounds a game.

I don't know if I'd have the guts to draft him in the top 5 in this draft, but with his frame, athleticism, and shooting stroke, that guy is going to be good in the NBA for a long time.

I really like Markkanen but it is hard to see him going before Fultz, Jackson, Ball and Tatum.  If a calamity of dreadful events led to us having the 5th pick, I think the choice would be between Markkanen and Isaac.  For us with our current roster, I'd have no problem with taking Markkanen ahead of Fox, Monk and Smith and letting Olynyk walk in free agency.

He looks like a poor man's Olynyk. He looks slow. He'll be lucky to stay in the top 10. I bet Sacramento will take him at like 8 or 9... I'm not interested for the Celtics.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I like Justin Patton better. Markanen is an outstanding shooter, but I question his ability vs real NBA size.

Check out Justin Patton of Villanova.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Justin Patton is 19 and will turn 20 in June.  He's a redshirt freshman.  Patton is going to have to add weight/strength to deal with NBA size.  I'd say Patton is a true center where Markkanen is a 4/5.  Personally, I think I prefer Robert Williams to Patton from the games I've seen so far.  He's definitely raw but I think he has higher potential.

Edit:  He's a better athlete with a 7'4" wingspan and is around 240 now.  I don't normally post high school highlights but I haven't seen a good college highlights video for him yet.  Plus I wonder if his nickname is really "Boo-Butt".

Patton is 19 and will be 20 before the draft.

I like Patton a lot too. If we fell to 5, I'd be looking at him.

You are basically drafting KO part 2

Not sure if such player is top 5 pick worthy

#10 Lauri Markkanen (Arizona) vs Arizona St // 1.12.17 // 30 Pts *CAREER HIGH*

7'0 tall with apparently a 7'1 wingspan.  Looks like has a good reach measurement.  And has an a excellent frame. Already in good shape.   Better agility than KO.

Looks like a PNR dream for some nba team . One of the best 3 pt shooters of the draft

Just not athletic enough for me to consider with the Nets pick this year.

I get what you mean. But he could turn out to be a 7'0 Kevin love.
