One negative i'm just noticing about jackson is that he only has a 6'9 wingspan and 8'3 reach? (hmmm)

Likely better suited as a 3 at the nba level

I guess if we end up picking him, we can let Jackson and Brown kill each other ...

People are complaining about Horford playing the four and not being able to cover the pick and roll well. Well let me tell you, this kid can cover anybody, anytime.

He's 6'8". A beast of a defender and competitor. He can switch into anyone. He's a tremendous athlete.

My second favorite player in the draft. What a fit he would be for the Celtics and he has the same issue we hear ever year from an Ainge pick.

" If he can learn to knock down the three's consistently he'll be unstoppable"

This kid truly does it all besides shoot it. Jackson and Brown could definitely play together, especially if there knocking down shots.

 Horford
 Jackson
 Crowder
 Bradley
 Thomas

 Smart, Brown

Plenty to like here, for sure. Don't think he has the frame to put on enough weight to be a four except in spot situations. Makes plays, is decisive with the ball, and I love especially the aggression on defense. The shot mechanics are seriously bad, though.

By the way, Al Horford's not at all a bad pick and roll defender – the problems have more to do with  closing out shooters on the perimeter, or guarding an iso.

If we don't end up with the first pick (Fultz), I'd be more inclined to take Jackson because of his higher potential.  I do see a more similar development to Smart or Winslow, but possible a year earlier. He will find minutes because his hustle and defense and will contribute to winning through the invisible intangibles.  Tatum, I see as more of a scorer that will be more in the mold of Pierce or Anthony, but not until his 2nd year will he break out.  He has the scoring arsenal of a 1-on-1 isolation specialist, using the triple threat, primarily.  His success is less certain as he would struggle to find court time in Stevens' system because of his defense, even less than Brown.

I also think Jackson would fit better next to Smart and most importantly Brown.  Brown can slide to the 2, while Jackson's size precludes him to favor the 3.  The 4 and 5 are positions that will be addressed likely via trade.

Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau on Kawhi Leonard: "He is terrific. He is an MVP candidate. To me, All-Stars and MVPs, you look at what they do for their team and winning. There are people that they can get stats on. But they don't contribute to winning. He does everything to help his team win. I think he had 17 shots, great defense, unselfishness, great plays, plays with a lot of toughness and that's how you win. When you are as dominant as he is defensively, to me he is the defensive player of the year candidate. He is always on top every year. He is disruptive, and the demeanor that he plays with gives their team a lot of poise."

The Jackson to Leonard comparisons are very good imo.  A few differences

Jackson is 6'8 and Leonard 6'7
Jackson has a 6'9 wingspan and Leonard 7'4 wingspan
Jackson is currently a better ball handler and Leonard a better shooter

otherwise pretty similar players from what i have seen.  Whatever it takes to win mentality

I don't know, based on early returns from overseas, Guerschon Yabusele might be the PF of the future....

Similar?  Really?

Not seeing what you are seeing there.

And jeez. A 7 inch difference in wingspan is gigantic.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Both are athletic, top calibre versatile defenders.

On offense if not scoring, will do the small things to make it easy for others to score. Both are willing and very good passers.  Quiet and do not fall for trash talking. Hard working

Yeah the 7 inch wingspan is hefty but jackson is a smidge taller and also more explosive vertically in comparison

Naw he is a 3.  But also can play some 4

I mean he can guard lebron like no one else in the league

And lebron could easily be a 4

I get that we go BPA. Do we definitely need 2 young SF who play good defense but have problems shooting?

If we draft Jackson, do we look to move Jaylen?

Not right away.. and like someone else mentioned, either jackson or brown could play the 2 also

I mean if we draft Fultz, say goodbye to IT4?

Celtics would be lucky to have these possible problems

If you watch this kids highlight videos you see almost entirely dunks. He's not going to be able to do that at the next level and so he could just as easily be a bust. Compare that with similarly sized Jayson Tatum. His take consists of spin moves, step backs, ball fakes, and then some just as impressive dunks. He's a much more creative scorer who's gonna be a better player IMO. Plus looks like he could add bulk on that frame more easily.

Jackson brings too much to the table to be an actual bust.  With his poor shooting, I don't think he's a good fit for us.  For the Lakers, Blazers, TWolves or Suns he'd be a much better fit.
