OKC can't possible think that they are on the path to contention right now. They need serious influx of assets after losing Ibaka and KD. Competing for the 8th seed in the west will get old quick.

My proposal:

BOS recieves: Russell Westbrook/Nick Collison/Anthony Morrow

OKC receives: Amir Johnson/Avery Bradley/Marcus Smart/Tyler Zeller/Jonas Jerebko/Brooklyn '18/Memphis '19 Pick

OKC receives 4 keepers: Bradley/Smart and likely 2 lottery picks to develop team.

BOS receives the star to pair with Horford/Thomas and 2 expiring contracts to maintain cap space to sign a 3rd this offseason.

Our new lineup:

PG: Thomas
SG: Westbrook
SF: Brown
PF: Crowder
C: Horford

We need to find a big to pair up with Horford down low still but we get our all star at a big sacrifice.

Targets:
Blake Griffin
Andrew Bogut
Serge Ibaka

Imagine this team:

PG: Isaiah Thomas
SG: Russell Westbrook
SF: Jaylen Brown
PF: Blake Griffin
C: Al Horford

This roster can compete with any team in league especially with a bench of feisty guys in Crowder, Zizic, Yabusele and others.

How are we convinced that Russ wants to resign with the Celtics? If we aren't convinced of this, no way does this trade make sense.

I'd rather wait a year and a half until he become a FA agent again. With two more high draft picks, Russ might want to sign long term with Boston.

OKC is not trading Westbrook, especially not so soon after losing Durant (and Westbrook signing an extension).  And if they did trade him, it wouldn't be for picks and spare parts
I'm bitter.

Spare parts? Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart are 2 starter caliber players who bring a defensive identity.

I think OKC will do whatever Westbrook request. He showed them loyalty and they intend to do the same. Think Dirk for Mavs.
