I like Yabu a lot

Guys with his athleticism and strength are super rare. On top of that, he has an excellent feel for the game and using his body.

I'm curious to see how he will do against NBA athleticism and length, but I have really high hopes for him.

Does anybody know the correct pronunciation of his last name?

I think most announcers are saying yeah boo selly

My schoolboy French tells me it's yeah boo suh lay

Any French speaking persons want to chime in?

I was under the impression it was yeah boo say lay. But not sure.

Edit: This is what Adam Silver thought it was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQrPD-6Dfzo

TP for the link.

This league seems about as uninformative as it can get, but one nice thing in that video is how often he finds the open man. Good awareness.

When does the Chinese league end?  Could Yabu sign on with the D League afterwards or would that require waiving someone to free up a roster sport?

the only rationalization that i can come up with is he hits his threes and can perfect moves that he might not have used in a tougher league-my son played up and every once in a while i had to bring him down a bracket-
he had the two best guards in england on his squad either he had defend or attack on offense-he was thin they were fully grown at young age, it stunted his confidence
yabusele is getting to experiment and hopefully he is using mings strength and conditioning program-
nader is killin the d league-zizic is now playing up-and yabusele can't be stopped and shootin the three

Anyone with ESPN Insider want to tell me what this analysis says about GY:

http://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/18497460/how-do-jimmer-fredette-guerschon-yabusele-more-project-china-nba
most of the article is for insiders. would you be able to post the main points for the rest of us?

many thanks and a tp in advance.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Chris Forsberg posted a snapshot, which had a projected NBA stats (per-36 minutes) of 13.6 PPG and 7.5 RPG.  I'm fairly sure that's a translation -- in other words, what his computer model thinks Yab would have done this year in the NBA, and not future numbers.  Those are reasonable numbers to be a 4th big in the rotation (defense not withstanding) on an NBA playoff team.  In other words, he could be a viable reserve option next season, which is encouraging.

That's what I was asking, can someone post the main points?  I don't have Insider either.

Love the highlights, but it's so hard to get a read on his talent level with the really poor competition he's facing.  I'm impressed by his skill level on the perimeter, but it doesn't seem he gets great elevation unless he's got a good running start.

What do you guys see?

Its like the competition on offense is of a D2 team and D3 on defense.

I think it's worth noting that Yabu is starting in place of Jimmer who was hurt. Yabu went on his recent tear which has resulted in Jimmer now coming off the bench now that he's healthy.

Not sure what to make of these clips of Yabs, because the competition he's going against is so poor. I like him, but honestly I think the footage of him from the summer leagues is probably more telling than the highlights from the CBA.

Still, better to dominate inferior competition than to be mediocre against inferior competition.

No doubt in my mind this guy can play NBA-level offense. I just wonder if he can move his feet laterally well enough to be adequate on defense.
