I'm thinking that Danny drafted this guy to replace Jerebko in the near future. His handle is pretty good for his size and position. He's not afraid of contact and he also moves well. He provides what Jerebko can do and will probably get better than him.

according to pre-draft scouting reports, and who knows how accurate those are now, yabusele is great on offense but weak on defense. i could not judge from the video but often his guy did blow by him. yabusele often blocked the shot from behind, but still.

the celtics needs offense, maybe he can add some.

He have the mobility to defend pick-n-rolls and recover on switches. He just need to get used on it. If he can be at least good as Bass on the defense, he'll be a steal.

yabusele seems quicker now-one positive of playing in china is ming's strength and conditioning program
the inferior competition allows him to experiment and develop moves to basket

I still love his shot (I said it was a nice stroke on draft night) and his physicality. That's a big boy and he's not going to get easily moved around in the paint. He also seems to have a good handle and puts it on the floor well.

I don't like his lack of defensive positioning (many of his blocks in those videos have his man going by him first and the block is a recovery) and his off-the-ball movement is tentative. Of course, I think Brad can help him with both of those issues.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

Shooting percentages are a mediocre 46/34/70.  Looking at the rosters there's a fair amount of ex NBA/D league talent, so it may be decent competition.

Yabu is about to turn 21 with a lot of areas that need developing and he looks like he could easily have weight issues.   Really wish he was playing in a good Euro league.

I kind-of like that Jimmer is playing the Steph/Klay role (dude has been insane) because it allows Yab to work on his Draymond role. Obviously we need to take this experience with a huge grain of salt due to the level of competition, but he definitely moves incredibly well for his size and is very engaged in the game. He also seems to know when to pass and has great touch on his shot from all areas of the court.

I would like to see those rebounding numbers go up a bit and the defensive positioning could use some work, but, overall, there is quite a bit to be excited about.

This and the Zizic threads are a lot more intriguing than the old Colton Iverson one.

The obligatory shirtless pic:

I won't deny that he looks heavier than this in game, but he is a big guy. As somebody who hates this term because so many fat people want to consider themselves 'big guys', this is actually a compliment not taken lightly from me.

He is still only 20 and has great athleticism, size, and touch. You can't ask for a whole lot more. The Cavs took Anthony Bennett with the #1 pick and Yab looks like a more engaged version of that once top rated prospect.

The weight thing matters, though, and we Boston fans are especially sensitive of it due to our recent potential star PF's [Sully] inability to have any sort of discipline with his eating habits.

Do you know when that picture was taken and how much he weighed in it?  He certainly looks heavier in the game clips.  I was thinking more Big Baby than Sully.  Comparing Yab to Bennett doesn't instill a lot of confidence.

Edit:  He'll turn 21 in 6 days so he's not really a young project.

There's no way that Yabu looks like Big Baby, unless Baby got ripped over night. Anthony Bennett had (and still prob. has) a developed body, just not a developed game. I think comparing someone's body to Bennett is a compliment.

Thx for posting video, TP.

Needs to work on going left more. Almost always fakes left and goes right.

Also needs to work on getting off his 3 point shot more quickly.

I like him though. Feel he will play a role in our future.
