Throughout the Toronto game I kept wondering why Jaylen Brown hardly played in the second half.  In a game where Horford & Jaylen were the only people athletic enough to get to the rim (and finish or get fouled), we were treated instead to Olynyk, Jerekbo, and others create 0 separation... and Horford come back in too late.

I thought Jaylen played really well in the first half, and looked like a good mismatch each time he touched the ball.   What am I missing?  It's like he makes one not-so-great play and gets yanked.  Meanwhile everyone else on the team can make 5 bad plays in a row and stay in the game.  A lot of the players (Jerekbo, Amir, Zeller, and to a degree Crowder) are clearly at or almost at their potential.  Jaylen honestly seems like the only player on the team who I think has a chance to be special.  I'd much prefer to find out what he's capable of than watch this brick-fest of mediocrity that this team is on Offense.

Stevens unfortunately doesn't have the stomach to let Jaylen play through some mistakes. He goes with the safe rotations late because he trusts them.

Hopefully Brown keeps excelling in the first half and Stevens starts to trust him more.

I agree Jaylen needs more time. He is the future of this team.He brings a lot of energy and the team  is better with him on the floor.

Stevens just likes to play it safe. It's not a huge problem, we'll see more of Brown from January onwards when he starts to make Brad trust in him.

I think the Celtics know what they have in Brown, and have just decided to bring him along slowly.

beat me to it. brown has been playing more as CBS gains trust in him. probably from practice.

by the end of the season i expect brown to be a regular rotation player.

Because Brad apparently has equal or more faith in Jerebko, Rozier, and Zeller.

I think Jaylen, Smart, and Kelly can all be ~30mpg players, and are big time upgrades from those other 3.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Brown gets more touches when Isiaih not on floor or so it seems.

Brad needs to focus on developing Brown and Rozier this season, less concerned about playoff seeding.

I could see us moving Crowder before trade deadline and moving Brown into starting lineup. If you bench Crowder you drive his stock down. Love the guy but think now is the time to cash in on his overachievement the past two seasons.

I doubt Ainge willing to include Brown in any trade including for Cousins. Kids upside evident. Too early to project how good he can become. If he keeps hitting the 3, the world will become his oyster because he will start to blow by guys for easy buckets. Tommy made this point last nights game.
