Thought I'd start a poll, based on discussion in the other thread.

Both seem to have upside, and both seem available.  Who's do you like more?  Why?

Honestly, the way we are D-ing up right now, our team could really use a defensive big.
Thoughts?

Noel is a rental. No thanks.

It'd depend on what the cost is for each player.

But if the cost was equal, I'd prefer WCS due to the fact he has more years remaining on his rookie contract.

Noel hasn't done anywhere near enough to prove he's going to be worth a long term contract, it's a big risk to give up assets for a guy who hasn't really developed his game much.  At least with WCS you have a few more years to make such a decision.

Noel.  He wouldn't be a rental.  We could acquire him and still have money for a max contract this summer even with his 11 mil cap hold.

Willie better contract and defensive range.

Just no.

Contract is fair, but defensive range is not even close. Nerlens has been a better player than WCS at every level on both ends of the court.

Noel. Even after 3 season (well.. 2 seasons since he hasn't played single game this season..) Noel is still younger than WCS and Noel's pts, reb, stl and blk per 36 min are better than WCS.

No right back.

WCS at least doesn't go for steals above the 3pt line letting guys drive past him. WCS usually goes ice technic when on a guard and let's his length bother the shot. Noel is too aggressive. Also WCS does better staying with people on switches. Noel is a better offensive player due to put backs from better rebounding and better filling lanes.

We might not have room for a max contract with just the cap holds for Olynyk  and the Nets 1st.  We certainly wouldn't have room for a max contract if we add Noel.

WCS and Rudy Gay. Need a bench scorer, too. Gay is now a reasonable contract.

Just read that WCS may not be available. Which could mean Cousins is. But also just read really quickly that he had a post game blow up on the court. I would love to believe that IT,Horford,Crowder and Stevens can reign in the bad attitude, but it still would make me nervous.

By RPM last season Noel was the better defender by a good bit, but worse offensively.  Noel had a slight edge overall.  WCS rated as one of the worst defensive centers in the league, not a good sign for a player with his skill set.

WCS, his salary is less and he doesn't have the same injury concerns.

Noel is liable to get hurt right after you sign him to a big contract.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Nerlens is one of the better PnR defenders in the NBA. He's more mobile than Cauley Stein, and just about every other big out there. Cauley Stein basically can't get on the court this year, do you know why he ices? Because that's all he can do. They played together in college, and it was as obvious then as it is now that Noel was much better.

Opponents are scoring 11 more points per 100 with WCS on the court this year, and he was a negative last year too. Nerlens Noel has been a massive positive for the Sixers both years on that front, even given that he spent a lot of last year out of position. Heck as a rookie they were a top 5 level defense when he was on the court despite having Ish Smith and Isaiah Canaan as perimeter defenders for like 1/3 of the year.

It's not even worth discussing, as a rookie Noel anchored a defense that spent most of the season in the top 10 till they lost most of their wing defense. WCS has done.... Nothing
