I would do the trade without hesitation.  However, the pick swap is technically Boston's first round pick in 2017 (which can be swapped with the Nets) so Boston wouldn't be able to trade their 2018 pick as well since you can't trade back to back first round picks.

Other than that I would be all aboard.

So we can trade the 17' Nets swap. However, this means we could not package the 18 celtics with it? But we still could send the 18 nets pick? So it has nothing to do with the number of picks, just the name on them? I always wondered about that.

Not quite true. So long as we have one first round pick in 2018 (whether it be ours or the Nets) we are fine under the Stepien rule.

I don't believe this is correct because Boston has two picks in 2018.  I believe you just can't go two years in a row without a 1st round pick.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Is that how it works? Im seeing conflicting things from bloggers, and upon quick research into The Stepien rule I couldnt find anything about it. Im very curious about this.

You would need to throw in Zeller or Jebko to make the cash work..

Teams are required to have only a first round pick, and not necessarily their own first round pick. Teams may trade away their own future picks in consecutive years if they have another team's first round pick in one of those years.

Zeller or Jerebko? Hell I'd throw in both and have a fiesta

In all seriousness I would keep Jerebko. He's started poorly yes but he's versatile and I still have faith he can turn into a solid bench piece. Jerebko didn't do much up until the playoffs last season also.

I'm still amazed that a lot of their fans would do this. Have you tried posting this trade elsewhere too? Like, on the King's reddit page? The NBA fans on reddit are normally more reactionary, but they also have some more knowledgeable NBA fans than the average person who checks SacTownRoyalty.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

I think most people on this site would say yes in a heartbeat to that trade.
I don't know how Sac says yes though.  Wouldn't his trade value be much higher???

Some of their fans really liked the idea and would pull the trigger.

So i think it's safe to say that they didn't deride it, which is good.

Thank you BDM and a TP for your thoughts. This is how I thought it worked but people started to make me doubt myself haha.
