Some of their fans really liked the idea and would pull the trigger.

What do you guys think of this?

Boston Trades:

- Marcus Smart/Terry Rozier (Sacramento's choice - likely Smart I'm guessing?)

- Amir Johnson

- RIGHTS to Yabusele

- James Young

- 2017 Brooklyn Pick Swap (the big asset)

- 2018 Boston First Rounder

- 2019 Grizzlies OR Clippers pick (Sacramento's Choice)

Sacramento Trades:

- DeMarcus Cousins

- Ben McLemore

Absolutely. But I'm surprised that you were able to find anyone at Sactown to take that trade.

Random question but can the kings take the Brooklyn pick swap?  Philly already has pick swap rights with them.  Does that make it complicated if Philly decides to swap with the kings and the kings want to swap with Brooklyn?   Would Brooklyn then get the Philly pick?

Mike

They said they would ask for more but ultimately "settle" on this lol.

They understand Cousins attitude could make other teams hesitant on doing a trade.

I'm honestly not too sure. I think they can take the pick swap though.

Good point. Wasn't there a similar situation with the Celtics and Atlanta regarding the BKN pick a few years ago? Atlanta had the right to the better of the two swaps.

We wouldnt trade the swap, we would trade our pick and attached to it is the right to swap that pick with Philly.

i think the swap would still be based off of our record and brooklyn record

And TP to the OP

I'd do it

Thanks, although sadly an article came out recently with a bunch of GMs and Executives saying the Kings are asking for way too much.

Kings also beat the Raptors today and after tonight are only 1 game behind the Celtics record-wise.

Idk what the Kings front office is trying to do honestly..

I definitely do this trade. Almost 0 hesitation. Would suck to lose Smart, rights to Yabu (can we give them Marcus Thornton instead? haha), and the swap, ... but Boogie man, Boogie.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Yeah I'd do this. I'd be surprised if it was enough though, there probably needs to be one more asset going their way with an unfavourable contract coming ours if they have one. I'm be very happy if something like this went down though, I think it puts us right up there with Cleveland this year

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Cousins just isn't worth much on the market. His emotional baggage terrifies NBA GM's and he's the kind of guy that could destroy the last 5 years of work we've put in here.

That being said, I think with our core of strong personalities and Brad as coach, he's worth the gamble if we are serious about contending with Cleveland and GWS for a ship'.
Especially if we could keep Brown and Smart. It has to be done.

IT
Bradley
Crowder
Horford
Cousins

Brown
Smart
Zeller
Jerebko

is a real contender for a championship for the next 6 or 7 years. Horford could be replaced by someone down the track.

Question is, do we put all our eggs in the Cousins basket?
This kind of move would either make or break Danny's legacy to an extent. But he certainly is a gambler.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

If you could convince Brooklyn, they might even throw Lopez in there if they got some nice young pieces back or a future pick.
That would guarantee the Kings pick value in the top 3 basically.
Works for everyone.

Yup, you can trade the Celtics pick which would include swap right with Brooklyn (where you can swap the Brooklyn and Boston picks, no other picks can be involved), but you can't alter Brooklyn's end of the deal (ie they get the Kings or Philly or Warriors picks instead Boston's). There are roundabout ways of doing the trade, like Sac gets best of (worse of Sac/Philly)/Brk/Bos, Nets get worse of Bos/Brk, Celtics get remaining pick, but they would make little sense for the Kings based on how bad they'd look without Cousins
I'm bitter.

I would do the trade without hesitation.  However, the pick swap is technically Boston's first round pick in 2017 (which can be swapped with the Nets) so Boston wouldn't be able to trade their 2018 pick as well since you can't trade back to back first round picks.

Other than that I would be all aboard.
