So when will he be eligible for the hall of fame?  With those who retired at the end of last season or those retiring at the end of this season?

Is there a limit on the number of players inducted with each class?  If so and it's the former he may not make it in the first time.

A good read.

it was really great. i've gotten pretty [dang] close on forgiving him i think.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I never had a problem with him going to Miami. The team was cooked at that point.

Ray had an awesome career.  One of the most clutch players of all time.   He helped us win our only championship of the past 30 years.  I'll miss him.

Only thing I'd like to post in here is the following: If KD is a villain to you for going to GSW, you better not idolize Ray Allen, or vica versa. I personally have 0 issue with Ray leaving or KD going to Golden State.

All people talk about is Melo not wanting to win.... Would he be villainized for going to Golden State too to win a title?

Same goes for Ray. He went to the franchise that gave him the best chance to win.... Shouldn't that be what an athlete wants?

Good luck, Ray!

When KG's retirement news came out, I legit shed a tear. It seemed like the end of something epic. When Paul plays his last game this season, I'll probably be a wreck. I know Ray was an important part of getting KG and Banner 17, and I'm appreciative of that. But I'm just struck by my indifference to him at this point. I saw it pop up on my newsfeed and just kept scrolling. It is what it is, I guess. Best wishes to Ray.

Haha they mentioned it to Rondo and he said "I thought he'd been retired".

Can't really blame him though, Ray's been out of the league 2+ seasons now.

So when is he hall of fame eligible?

Player is supposed to be "fully retired".  So I guess the question is what exactly qualifies as "fully retired" by their definition.

Probably a few examples out there.

Iverson "offically" retired on Oct 30th, 2013, and he's already in the Hall of Fame.  To me looks like they just go off the last NBA season you played in.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Totally disagree.  Durant is probably the 2nd best player in the world and he joined a 73 win team.

Ray Allen was a veteran role player who had been shopped for 3 years straight.. in-fact, he was traded at least once and the deal fell apart.  He had been relegated to backing up a 20 year old.  The team was no longer a contender.  The team was a year away from blowing it up, trading their other two cornerstones, trading their coach and tanking.   The Celtics were done.   Miami was a team that needed some shooting off the bench.   I fully supported Ray's decision to join them.   I never saw them as our rivals anyways.

Yeah, I don't think declaring retirement has any "official" status with regard to HoF eligibility. Ray will probably be inducted in 2019.

I'm still disappointed in Ray's decision to leave us for Miami back in 2012.
Regardless, you can't do nothing but respect Ray's work ethic and all he did for us on the court, which ultimately led to our 17th championship.

Thanks for all Ray.
