Tankathon has the Celtics picking sixth with the Brooklyn pick. At six in their mock draft they have us drafting Harry Giles.

I would not be mad at that...but I would be nervous.

This is a good year to not necessarily get the top pick. #5 or 6 could very easily be just as good as #1. In theory that's always the case, but I'd say there's a better chance this year than most.

Which means this will be the year the Celtics finally get the first pick.

Currently in a 4 way tie for 4th through 7, 8% chance of the #1 pick, 26% chance of a top 3.  Big game tonight, can push Brooklyn into the bottom 3.

ESPN's Basketball Power Index has the Nets winning 24 games (only the Sixers lose more games on their way to being enshrined in the HOF) resulting in a 50% chance of a top 3 pick.

Right now, Tankathon has them as the 4th worst team.

Question for the day: You're hanging with Howie Mandel and he presents a magic button. Press the button and you lock in the fourth pick for this year. Let it go and the season plays out as it normally would.

Deal or no deal?

A fourth pick is hard to turn down but the draft looks pretty deep. I would probably be tempted to let it play out. But it's a tough choice.

Definitely Let It Ride. Having the locked-in 4th pick would only kill about 10 threads. Either that or it would start 10 threads with how we should just let it play it out through the lottery. It's a no-win situation sometimes :)

Wow the 76ers only a half game back from the 7th slot, interesting...

Sole possession of the 3rd slot today.  Definitely trending in the right direction.

Would it be better if the brooklyn pick lands 2nd-3rd worst? The odds of the worst team getting the #1 pick 3 years in a row is rather small.

As correct as your theory sounds, it is unfortunately incorrect.  Best odds are always having the most pong-pong balls.

Same situation as this year in the sense that 5 or 6 guys could be the same level. YOu obviously still want that first choice, because GMs will have the guys they like best or worst. If you are first of the top tier guys you are garunteed to get the one you like best who fits you best.
