Our poor shooting was Amirs fault as well?

Small ball doesnt wirk if shots arent falling.

We need Olynyk back at 100% and in the starting lineup.

Ditch the projects and bring over Zizic.

We simply need the length inside.

Or wait till next year and sign/ draft a long big that can compete for a rotation spot.

This lack of a big man to play alongside Horford  is why we resigned Zeller. Amir has the same shortcoming.
What poor shooting? We are shooting 52% on the season.

This. Also, the lack of defensive rebounds has nothing to do with weather the Celts shots are falling. It has to do with lack of size on the other end. Look at the Nets game. The Celtics score 122 and barely win.

The Celtics do not need an upgrade on Amir, they already have him in Olynyk.  Amir is a very good 3rd or 4th big defending the Center spot alongside Jerebko.  Once people get a look at Olynyk and Horford together they will forget all about wanting a big banger/rebounder.  The C's were out rebounded as bad as humanly possible last night and still had a good shot at winning the game even without Olynyk/Smart.  Without Olynyk the C's can't fully exploit guys like Lopez by dragging him away from the hoop.  Once Olynyk and Smart return the defense will also improve greatly.

KO should start beside Horford .

Amire to second string bench .

I d like to see Brown shuffled in For Crowder for quick spells to put more offensive pressure in the paint.

KO and AL drag the BiGs out .....let IT and Brown head for the bucket.

In certain situations ....I d still like to have Nerlins to thrown into certain line ups .

I'll settle for an upgrade over Zeller. It's not much to ask.

Well, Kelly's coming back eventually, that should help.

I'd like to see Amir in Zeller's current role with a better starter. Amir's limited but he's a good piece for us, just in a perfect world his role would be smaller.

Do you guys think Kelly will help with the rebounding at all?
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I think Kelly is slightly a better rebounder than Amir, but it shouldn't make a huge difference on the boards.

What Kelly does is force the other team to go small because big centers struggle to handle him on the perimeter.

Zizic!
This guy was drafted to be an energy big. Someone to come of the bench and push the tempo. He was supposed to mature into a slightly better zeller.  He is looking like so much more right now.  watching film of him now, he looks like he will be what Sully should have been.

I hope that you are right .  We are missing a bulldog rebounder.  But not to overstate - the all-rebound guys need guys atound them who can shoot/score.  C's look like they may be a more consistent shooting/scoring team but I want to see if JC, AB, GG etc can do it every night.

Agreed = Amir is the weak-link in that starting lineup.

The team needs more offense from the 2nd big next to Horford. Horford is not a prolific scorer. Hard to play a low usage guy next to him. Team not getting enough offense from the bigs. Overly reliant on perimeter play. Even a 2nd mid-usage guy (which Horford is) like Olynyk would make a big difference.

This is the next step for the team. To get a long term fix at that 2nd big spot.

Great point Who. Sounds like your saying Trade for Okafor!!!

Yeah. KO and Zeller are bad rebounders for 7 footers. Amir has better rebounding stats, but he hasn't shown up yet the first two games. Very inconsistent.

I'm troubled by all this "smallball" talk. Smallball doesn't get you the ball. Rebounders get you the ball.

More troubling are Stevens statements about loving smallball. His reasoning, as he said,  is he had to learn how to play smallball at Butler because he couldn't get any good big men there.

Well, this is the NBA, and big men are supposed to get the ball and plug up the middle. If you want to play perimeter ball, you better have some good outside shooters.

They could have had Biyombo as a FA, but they preferred an offensive "pick and roll" guy rather than a defensive rim protector with no shot. In my view, they have too many of the offensive type. Not enough interior D.

I'll assume that you're not talking about Horford, and are talking about Zeller?  The choice wasn't between Zeller and a guy like Biyombo, though - Zeller was signed through his bird rights. We didn't have the space to sign someone like Biyombo.  We could have let Amir and Jerebko go and gone after Biyombo, but at that point we would have been switching an expiring, slightly underpaid, more well rounded big man and a fairly versatile perimeter oriented combo forward for a pretty one-dimensional big on a contract that kills our flexibility moving forward

It would have been great if there was a great rebounder available for cheap, but there wasn't
I'm bitter.

yes, but amir plays under the basket. olly plays away from the basket. that accounts for some of the discrepancy in their stats.
