Myles Turner went for 30 and 16 with 4 blocks, 2 steals and a 3-pointer in his first game of the season last night. I don't want to overreact to one game, but this kid is 20 years old.

Anthony Davis, Karl Anthony Towns, Kristaps Porzingis, Andre Drummond and Joel Embiid are all under 24 years old. Add Turner to that list and there's potential to see a resurgence of the center position in the NBA in the coming seasons.

I'm not sure how much Davis and Porzingis are playing center verses power forward, but we can at least say they are good young bigs.  Cousins is only 26 too so another young guy.

Even though he gets knocked a lot, I'd add Okafor to the list.  There's also Nurkic and Jokic on the Nuggets.

That's true. It'll be interesting to see how the league develops. Do these type of guys inevitably get used as stretch-5's or is it more valuable to have a big PF, as long as that PF can shoot?

I posted on here somewhere looking at all of the qualified centers for rebounding last year, and something like only 3 of the top 15 attempted more than 1 3 pointer a game last year.  This notion that the traditional NBA big man is a thing of the past is just silly.  The difference is there isn't a truly dominant center in the mold of Shaq, but the minute one of those guys comes along, centers will be back in style.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I was gonna put up a poll but let's do this within the thread.

I still put Demarcus Cousins as #1, but if we stick with the under-25 group, I vote for Anthony Davis as #1.  However, I am very impressed with Karl Anthony-Towns.  Keep in mind he won the skills competition last ASG, very unusual for a guy that size.

It's always been a big man's game.  We had a lack of quality big men.  One of those guys is probably going to rip through the smallball NBA a decade from now when the warriors are done taking the league behind the woodshed.

I hate to break it you, but just yesterday he had 30 pts, 16 reb, 4 blk, 2 stl, and 1 3pt. Do you realize how unbearable you would be if Mickey had half those numbers? In fact, Mickey has CAREER TOTALS of 21 pts and 13 reb.

Hahahaha the last part is the best!
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

What is interesting though is that the majority of these guys can all shoot the 3. Embiid shot 3's last not. KAT shot 5. Porzingas shoots quite a few every game. Turn and Davis shoot them also.

The only guy that doesn't is Drummond (and kind of impossible to imagine him adding that). I guess if we want to pretend Okafor is on the same level as these guys he can't shoot a 3 either. So while these are taller players. They also still kind of show the evolution of the NBA.

Turner always had big time potential.  I remember him playing in the Big12 at Texas and the kid was great, but Rick Barnes just really didn't use him like he should have.  I like his game, hopefully he can continue to develop.

Its funny how there were so many people writing off Turner because of the funky way he ran in college.  Turner had a solid rookie season and last nights performance appears to indicate significant improvement.

I was trying to find a link to this but couldn't: Didn't the Pacers have to re-train him how to run correctly?
