please don't start this nonsense again. The Nets are the worst team in the league, period.

Great debut for Jaylen.  Very encouraging sign for the young guy.

I still think both Crowder and Bradley could make an all-star team with enough minutes.

In case you were wondering... I'm still worried the Nets will be better than people think.  Last year they were devastated by injuries.  If they stay healthy this year, they could play out of the bottom 5.
They can't defend at all.  The only games they'll have a chance is when they're making their 3's or the other team just has a bad night.

I wouldn't worry about the Nets at the start of the season. Most teams come out firing at the start. Once they settle in they'll really suck.

They seem like the Charlotte Hornets of last year without the defense. They shot threes without abandon, too, and they were totally reliant on making a good percentage of threes to win games.

A matter of perspective. I'm worried that the Celtics are worse than people think because a horrible team like the Nets gave them a pretty good game in stretches tonight. :P

Definite a pretty game. The outcome was really never in doubt. - good game would be the lakers who won. Or the 76ers who were up the majority of their game in the 4th quarter.

If you had no doubts in the outcome when it was a two-possession game in the end of the first half, and we were giving up easy baskets left and right -- then you're a better man than I am.

Their best player doesn't even fit into the "pace and space" style the new coach is trying to implement.  Lopez got only 21 minutes of playing time tonight. That doesn't bode well for their win total.

I thought the refs were terrible.   Broke up the game, called ticky tack stuff and thought they were more important than the players.   They also had some plain old bad calls.

Horford was in disbelief when he picked up a foul on the very first Nets possession, and then later on he got another unfair call.  The flagrant on Amir was total BS, Scola was moving and got his foot tangled up with Amir who did nothing, NOTHING.

Are the refs going to feel sorry for the Nets this entire season, and try to make a few of their games competitive?

I will agree that is a real plausible fear based on the team now being well coached and at this point seeming willing to play hard. In the end I am confident their lack of talent will still have them in the bottom 5 of the league. I will be really surprised if they do not unload Lopez for additional young depth and a 1st rd pick. He doesn't really seem to fit the style they want to play.

Refs were a little whistle-friendly opening night.  Not surprising -- most years they start off trying to call everything, and then chill out by Thanksgiving.

That was a nice confidence game for the starters. Great ball movement to get good shots for everyone. I read 36 assists is the most for a team on opening night since 2001. That's what this team is going to have to do to consistently score points this season. Move the ball and play smart. Luckily, the C's have a lot of smart players.

They're going to have to tighten up the defense a lot, though. I do think Marcus being around is going to help with the focus and energy on that end. He's also going to be able to lead that second unit in a way no one else is really prepared to do (even Green, who's a vet but not exactly a floor leader). But with Avery, Crowder, Horford and Amir in the starting lineup, they should be playing better D, Smart or no.

Win is a win. 1-0. On our way to 82-0.
