We waived RJ?  0h noes.  But people here told me he was the next Klay Thompson after shooting 30% in summer league.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I think this was the right move.

I hope in context that didn't come across as brutal as it sounds here, because OUCH.

lol

He will prob be out of the league in a couple years too if he doesn't improve dramatically

I guess now we know that James young isn't even worth a second rounder.  Sad nurkic went one pick before him.

You all have to look at the bigger picture, remember Danny's playing chess here.

James Young and Kevin Durant have the same agent (Rich Kleiman).

While RJ Hunter shares an agent (Mark Bartelstein) with Lester Hudson (waived by Danny), David Lee (waived by Danny), Dahntay Jones (waived by Danny), Will Bynum (waived by Danny), Greg Stiemsma (let walk by Danny), and E'Twaun Moore (traded away by Danny).  Bartelstein also represents Gordon Hayward.

I think it's clear, all eggs out of the sign-Gordon-Hayward-in-2017 bucket and back in the sign-Kevin-Durant-when-he-opts-out-in-2017 bucket. Also Danny apparently has some kind of strange vendetta against Barelstein with none of his clients making it past a full season with the C's!   Or of course the less plausible scenario, they just liked James Young better 8)

I don't know what would be worse, going through the whole Kevin Durant saga again next summer or another month of the presidential campaign.

WOW haha, not that I don't disagree but I hope this lights a fire under Young to start working even harder and taking it to another level. He may have earned the 15th spot but that's NOTHING to be proud of at a point in his career. He needs to work even harder to work up the chain

It doesn't surprise me we weren't even able to get a second round pick for Hunter.

Roster space seems pretty tight around the league with some decent players being cut, and other free agents still looking to be signed.

Releasing a late first rounder doesn't bother me, but I hope Young has learned his lesson for good that you have to work hard to stay in this league.

I wonder if we'll try to keep Hunter as at least a D league signee.  Strange that it looks as though Bentl signed with the Pacers D league affiliate when we could have done the same thing.

Crowder on the issue James Young just dodged: "He came in a first round pick and was on the borderline of getting cut."
Looks like his work ethic is not exactly held in high regard around the team.

The Boston Celtics have waived former first-round pick R.J. Hunter in advance of Monday's deadline to trim the regular-season roster to a maximum of 15 players, sources told ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

I liked Hunter he could shoot which the C's really need, will be interesting to see which teams picks him up.

I think this was probably the right decision. James is younger, more experienced, and probably better. The only things RJ has going for him are more years of control and a lower salary (although that just makes it easier to swallow).
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Yeah, I can't see how context can improve it, although I suppose words lost from the paraphrase might soften the blow.  Certainly doesn't sound like someone who has a long future with the team regardless of today.

Yeah, context matters. Because if Ainge said that, on face value that's a horrible thing to say to a young player. And if Young is that much of a lazy sack, an even worse signal by the organization that he's the one who's still on the team. I pray there's more to this than meets the eye.

This quote doesn't make any sense to me. Did Young not earn his spot in the NBA draft?
