As cutdown looms, the Celtics continue to offer James Young or RJ Hunter for a second-round pick, league sources tell @TheVertical.

Sounds like we're looking to cut bait on either one to keep the other.  Wonder which one we drop if there are no takers.

Hey, at least we don't have to worry about paying him when his rookie deal expires.

If we are hearing it in the media, I think it's because they haven't been able to get a 2nd for either guy.

Not really sure where either is a fit, maybe New Orleans or Philadelphia.

If teams know they are going to cut one then why not just wait?

What a failure.  Holds onto these draft picks like they're gold.   Drafts guys that will need to play to develop then has to cut them because he didn't have enough playing time for them and has made too many picks.   assets.

I don't think the problem with Hunter + Young was that we couldn't find playing time for them so much as they both seem to be terrible NBA players.

This would be the much more rational reason.

No, has to cut them because they suck. You win some, you lose some.

Sounds like it's a total toss up internally then.

I think it's going too far to say "they are terrible" but neither one is standing out as special or anything.  Small potatoes for a team with so many picks and young players.

These extra picks we kept (15-60) were not about hitting on each one. The more you have the better shot you have of hitting on any of them. What are the odds any GM finds a true serviceable player with almost every draft pick? These two guys were selected in the late teens and late 20's. It can't be Paul George and Jimmy Butler every time.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Extra draft picks are either trading chips or options. We got to control their rights long enough to evaluate. If no trade worked out, my gut tells me we keep Young due to age difference.

We're offering James Young for a 2nd? Isn't one of him enough?

If we're hearing it in the media it's because some team wants to wait, and is trying to get Woj to help lower the price.  Not that the price is high, but said team would rather wait until waivers.

I would like for both of them to be traded for a true end-of-the-rotation player.
