The only player I am willing to trade Smart for right now is a very talented playmaking big. Even if it means giving up a Brooklyn pick and Smart for someone like DMC. We need one so bad right now it is crazy.

We just payed 27 million per year for one. He goes by Horford. Al Horford.

Here's the thing.. Horford alone isn't getting us into contender status, and IT+Horford still doesn't put us there.

Celtics have one more slot for a max-contract. Getting a guy like DMC would elevate us into contender status. Also, Horford can play C, yes, but his primary strength is as a 4 who can stretch the floor and make things happen.

Overall, can you imagine a front court of DMC/Horford?  If Rozier plays like he has the past few months, Smart may not only have competition, but could utimately become trade bait (especially considering by 2018 Celtics would have tough decisions to make on IT/Bradley/Smart when their contracts expire).

If you have an already good team and add Lavine to the roster, he won't probably play much. IMO Smart, on the other hand, would be a 6-8th player in every team of the league.

That doesn't mean Smart is better overall than Lavine. But he does excel in at least of one thing (defense) and brings something special to the table, while the better all around Lavine is not even that good of a offensive player.

Hell yeah. Lavine has more upside.
