Didn't Vitor Faverani come out and have a monster game in the season opener a couple of years ago? I agree that it's encouraging to see Mickey play well, but let's hold our horses here.

I know he is known for his athleticism, but I always feel like he doesn't play as athletic as he apparently is. He certainly doesn't seem like a true above the rim type player. Perhaps with some more experience, he will feel more confident stepping in and using his explosiveness(?).

yup, Vitor had (if i recall correctly) a 12, 18, 6 blocks game in his debut.

edit: here's the tape: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3W8OLFlmXc

he wasn't half bad, what happened to him? how did he fall off?
The law of large numbers happened :P

Vitor has had major knee problems. I also sensed Stevens was lukewarm about him.

After he left the C's, Vitor was signed to a 2-year deal by Maccabi Tel Aviv. He played in just one game, and was released after his first year.

He's currently in Spain, posting OK numbers for UCAM Murcia

This guy is just garbage. He's lucky that we didn't draft Hernangomez at 16 like we wanted to. He's always out of position defensively, showing a lack of awareness at that end, and seems incapable of grabbing a rebound in traffic. The problem is defense is what he's supposed to be good at.

Note:
When I use the word "garbage" I say that in terms of comparing him to other NBA players. I'm sure he'll do quite well in the D-League or overseas, but he's just not an NBA caliber player. I wish he were.

Couldn't agree more. Glad a reputable poster is seeing eye-to-eye with me on this finally.

He's definitely going to own Europe, just like he did the Nets' 3rd string.

Apparently you're the only one that "gets" the value of Mickey. It's fascinating how enamored you're all with such a below average NBA player.

The hate on Mickey is ridiculous... he has been the third best big in the pre season... better than zeller and jerebko overall

Mickey has added mass, strength and its apparent. As well he has lost a tad of explosiveness , which is expected when you add mass...

Instead of being a shotblocker machine like we are used to seeing , he has upped his game everywhere else. I would take the trade off any day of the week

The Taj Gibson comparisons (after adding mass) look good.

To be honest, I blame you for the Mickey hate. :p

Well yeah, in the crap shoot of "which of three marginal NBA players do we cut", the guy who can play the 4 and/or the 5 usually wins out.
