I am starting to believe in curses again. Wow, sad to see such great potential on that team getting injured, time and time again.

I was really looking forward to seeing him. Fracture doesn't sound good. Is that like a full year type injury or could it be a few months?

Basketball gods are punishing them for making a mockery of the sport's values.

Karma for the tank job. All hale Hinkie the stinky.

Larbrd33 should be here any second with a Philly favored report that says he can still play but they are being safe. Also that Simmons is dominant practices when he returns but is sitting out the year.

I didn't even get to post before he already responded lol

Somewhere between 3 and 6 months out I'd guess. Sucks for him big time.

Good that the sixers didn't make a trade then. This opens up more playing time for the other bigs and gives the opportunity to build up their trade value

Yeah also, I watched some practice footage of Embiid and he looked like garbage.  Maybe it's time to consider contraction.

Probably means a bigger opportunity for Saric.

Anyway Simmons foot injury as described is nothing like Embiid's or the others you hear about. 5th metatarsal is outer bone. Very common

Aaron Gordon had the same fracture in November of his rookie season and was back in January:

Gordon, the fourth pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, was diagnosed with a fractured fifth metatarsal in his left foot after Saturday night’s loss to the Washington Wizards, and he will be out indefinitely, team officials said.

Rookie of the year odds must have just shifted in an avalanche.

What a blessing!  Now we... er... they... can head into the season without having to worry about "too many bigs"!  They can experiment with various lineups, play around with Noel/Embiid/Okafor/Saric and figure out which ones they want to keep to build their dynasty next to Simmons with!  Go 76ers!  Yay.  #TrustTheProcess

lol

Nah, this is a bummer for them.  Folks online are saying it's either 6-8 weeks or 4-6 months.  In 76ers terms, that probably means the whole season.  Then again, Hinkie isn't on board anymore so maybe they rush him back.

I hope they don't mess up our first pick swap position from the Nets with another season of stinking. Anybody that loses to the Nets this year is an enemy of Green. The Sixers can now put out the Triple Giant lineup. This injury might push them into doing a less than favorable trade sooner rather than later though...or they will embrace the tank once again.

This is now 2 drafts over the past 3 years where we did not get "lucky" with a top 2 pick and it looks like in both years, a bullet was dodged by us. It could have easily been Embiid and Simmons on our team and us stuck in perpetual losing hell. Funny how things sometimes work out.

You have to feel bad for Simmons, his teammates, coaches and the Philly fans who didn't drink the Hinkie kool-aid.

For the rest?  Karma is not a nice lady.
