Wow...strong words.

http://www.csnne.com/video/crowders-advice-rookie-jaylen-brown-gotta-get-motor

Anyone know when this interview was? If it was this week, it really concerns me.

I heard this on 98.5 this afternoon, and I had to look it up when I got home.

Ainge/Stevens sending Brown a message through Crowder? Crowder just speaking his mind? (agreeing with Clench's other thread, Jae is assuming the KG motivational mantle?)

In any event, it is concerning to me. I wasn't thrilled with the Jaylen Brown pick when it happened but became swayed by all the hype about him in the summer. Now I'm not so sure.

Nothing to see here.  Just showing the rookie he hasn't earned respect yet.

Love it.  Jae has never pulled his punches... a few weeks after he got here was calling out people for being lazy or something like that.

Hopefully Jaylen is motivated by it.

The guy is 19 either way, Crowder had to grow into who he is now too. If you think Jae gave his all in games when he was that young, I have a can of oxygen to sell you. AB just said PP told him to go out and give it his all when he got his chance when he was 19-20 at the time, PP wouldn't have to tell him that if it was already a given. This is what the vets are for, that's why I love the character of these vets, we have so many young guys on the team we needed vets who can give great advice and still play at a high level. Teach them and the vets/team benefits! GREAT GROUP!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Not ready to rush to judgment on Jaylen just yet. I'll watch the preseason games and let the regular season play out before I start writing off a 19 year old.

I love the overreactions on this thread. It's just Jae giving the young man some advice.

Giving advice is pulling the kid aside and talking to him one on one.

This is a whole different thing. He's calling him out in public in an interview.  Tough love… I like it.

Some fun facts. Crowder played two years in college. Crowder was a better rebounder than Brown his freshman year. 7 to 5.5 rpg.

Brown scored more points and got more fga per game. Crowder was  17.5 ppg 8.5 rpg 2 apg 2.5 spg his sophmore year.

Brown would have likely not done better than that his sophmore year. Maybe scored more points and assisted more. Little chance to do better in RPG and spg.

Crowder was the 34th pick in the draft in 2012 and made 600 K his first year. Last year was the first year he made over a million dollars and made Almost 6.8 million. This year he gets a pay cut at almost 6.3 million.

Jaylen Brown is no where near the player Crowder is right now, he's 19 years old and he's making over 4.7 million this year.

The strangest part of drafting Brown is that iys hard to see him taking Crowders job for the entire duration of Jae's contract. After that who knows.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I feel like I know what Jae's talking about.

Jaylen tends to stand around a bit when he's not actively in the play. He has to learn to play hard all the time. Cutting, boxing out, crashing boards, setting picks, etc. He seems to want to be great so I'm not too worried, yet.

Only time will tell, but I still think him being better than Jeff Green is a given.

The take away from this is that Jae Crowder is freeking awesome and the Celtics are a better because of him.
