After the 4 min. mark, IT starts talking about how he's trying to change his diet and sleeping habits to be a better player. This is stuff I like to hear. Professional basketball players practice and play all the time but to be really great it means gearing everything in your life toward being ready for the game. Glad to hear IT is making those commitments.

yeah i was kind of disappointed with him. he is 27 years old, and he need a doctor(s) to tell him that he shouldn't play video games and watch tv till late night in order to get more sleep, and to not eat garbage food in order to fell better and stronger.
he was a beast last year, if this makes him 10% better we'd have a genuine upper eshalon top 15 player for 8 mill a year
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Well, natural skill and athleticism at a given sport obviously are the primary determinants in performance.  You can have a lousy diet and be a phenomenal athlete like IT.  You could have a great diet and be a Fab Melo level player.  Or you could be Carl Lewis, who eventually adopted a vegan diet, and is considered the greatest track and field athlete ever.

That said, when you're competing at the highest levels like NBA players are, you need every edge you can get.  'Bout time he started eating better.

Doing his old 'check how much I've slimmed down during summer' trick. Will definitely keep an eye on sully this year..

Reminiscent of Paul Pierce as he got deeper into his career. Was a typical young player when he started out, relied mostly on talent and had a typical young player's lifestyle off the court. Listen to his interviews in recent years, and he mentions that he had to change that lifestyle completely as he got older to keep playing at a high level.

Maybe this is what ends up differentiating IT from Allen Iverson, another tiny scoring guard who fell off a cliff later in his career. I hope so.

I hope so, too.

And I've heard similar stories about Robert Parish and Steve Nash (and Tom Brady, actually). As guys get older, the smart ones start taking better care of themselves to make themselves more effective and elongate their careers.

i have a weird feeling that he will maintain that weight this year.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

lol. Nice.

But I kind of feel the same way. Making big life changes like the kind he'd have to make to really change his body are much easier if you're in a different place. That and now he's seen exactly how much money he's cost himself.

But even if he looks gerat this year and keeps it off all season, it was the right move to let him walk. I wouldn't trust him on a big contract.
