According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Heat increasingly believe that Chris Bosh's career with the franchise is over.

Tough situation even if he is well managed medically there is a little risk to his life. Some doctors and a lot of lawyers would heavily advise not to have him play. Even if he signs a waiver what do you tell his family or fans if things go bad? Saying something like, "He wanted to play and he accepted the risk so we let him play" isn't enough if it goes bad. People will claim the franchise only cared about tickets or wins.

Oh and let's also not forget about the insurance and cap relief the Heat stand to gain by Bosh not being cleared to play this year. The Heat couldn't fill up that arena with their big three, what are the attendance #s going to look like this year with now no Wade. Sure they would like skipping on paying Bosh's full salary. Then with cap relief they can possibly go get a new guy to help long term.

Again tough situation for that franchise.

It's a shame. Bosh was the only one from the Heat superfriends that I grew to like because his effort never waned in Miami and he's truly one of the more unique bigs in the NBA.

He really didn't deserve this, and as a basketball fan, it pains me to think of how good Miami could have been last year with Bosh in their rotation instead of McRoberts/Stoudemire.

At the same time, I'd rather him retire than be the next Reggie Lewis.

Miami released the following official team statement, so unless Bosh explicitly signs off, we won't ever hear:

"We are not able to comment further in light of Article XXII, Section 3(e) of the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, which precludes a team from releasing certain medical information without a player's consent."

Don't feel bad for Miami but sucks for Bosh.

I did hear his shrinking head was the cause.  ;)

His career with the Heat, yes.

And that's the interesting part.  He's untradabale, and if the Heat are to recoup most of his contract through insurance, the insurance company's doctors will need to be as convinced as the Heat's.  Considering Bosh has found a doctor who says he can play again, I'm willing to bet that an insurer can find a doctor who agrees that Bosh can play.  But the Heat aren't going to simply release him either.

The story is far from over.

I'd take a chance on him once the Heat release him and try to clear him off their books. His doctor has cleared him, and there's an NHL player - a much more physical sport - who has played for years with the same condition. New medications allow Bosh to take anti-clotting meds that are out of his system in hours, allowing him to play with little, if any, risk.

If he doesn't play again, can he crack the starting team in the HOF class with KG, Kobe and Duncan?
