WEST
1. GSW
2. Spurs
3. Clippers
4. Jazz
5. Blazers
6. Rockets
7. Thunder
8. Mavs

EAST
1. Cavs
2. Celtics
3. Raptors
4. Pacers
5. Bucks
6. Pistons
7. Hornets
8. Knicks

West will remain much, much stronger than the East. I'm guessing that the West will have nine teams better than the East's fifth best team, and six teams better than the East's fourth best team, and of course, the best team--perhaps of all time.

I find that statement to be strange, given that the 8th place East team this past year would have tied for 5th in the West this past year.  Couple that with the 3rd best team in the West losing a MVP candidate, who went to the best team in the West, and I would be very surprised to see the West anywhere near to 9 teams better than 5 in the East.  I just don't see that as likely at all.  Now sure the Warriors, Spurs, and Clippers will all be better than any team outside of Cleveland in the East, but being top heavy, does not make you good from top to bottom.

The East is much deeper, but there's still only one elite team, whereas the West has at least a few.

Also, if you take a look at how the top 10-20 players in the league are distributed, the West looks even more stacked.

The East has LeBron, George, Lowry, Butler, Wall, Drummond, Kyrie, Melo, Thomas, Millsap.

The West has Curry, Durant, Westbrook, Kawhi, Harden, Paul, Griffin, Davis, Towns, Draymond, Klay, Lillard, Cousins, Aldridge
