East
1. Cleveland Cavaliers
2. Boston Celtics
3. Toronto Raptors
4. Detroit Pistons
5. Indiana Pacers
6. Atlanta Hawks
7. Charlotte Hornets
8. Milwaukee Bucks
9. Chicago Bulls
10. Miami Heat
11. Wasington Wizards
12. Orlando Magic
13. New York Knicks
14. Philadelphia 76ers
15. Brooklyn Nets

After the top 5, I really did not know who to rank. I think spots 6-13 is up for grabs because none of those teams are awful

West
1. Golden State Warriors
2. San Antonio Spurs
3. Los Angeles Clippers
4. Portland Trail Blazers
5. Utah Jazz
6. Oklahoma City Thunder
7. Memphis Grizzlies
8. Dallas Mavericks
9. Houston Rockets
10. Minnesota Timberwolves
11. Denver Nuggets
12. Phoenix Suns
13. New Orleans Pelicans
14. Sacramento Kings
15. Los Angeles Lakers

It was hard to rank the west too. Again I really did know who is going to better than who plus this is based on how the rosters stand now. With the cap rising, I think trading season is going to be a lot of fun this year.

For bragging rights, correct?

This exact predicting of records and standings always seems to me like an attempt at predicting a dice roll with weighted odds, but it's fun I suppose.

Here is my take

1. Cleveland Cavaliers(status quo)
2. Boston Celtics (Horford helps huge improvement 57 wins)
3. Indiana Pacers (Significantly better)
4. Toronto Raptors (Status quo but C's & Pacers are better)
5. Detroit Pistons (Significant improvement and great coaching)
6. Chicago Bulls ( Strange mix of talent but should be improved, really good defensive team)
7. Milwaukee Bucks (Steady Improvement)
8. New York Knicks (A little better this year)
9. Charlotte Hornets (went backwards)
10. Orlando Magic (may sneak in the playoffs, i like their moves, Ibaka resurgence expected)
11. Atlanta Hawks ( fall a bit, may sneak in if Howard plays well and not injured)
12. Washington Wizards (status quo, may also sneak in)
13. Miami Heat (lost too much- free fall)
14. Philadelphia 76ers (slightly better 25 wins or more I think)
15. Brooklyn Nets (Trash- good for us)

West
1. Golden State Warriors (ridiculous 75 wins maybe?)
2. Los Angeles Clippers (status quo)
3. Spurs (slipping some)
4. Utah Jazz (could be sneaky good if healthy)
5. OKC- (Westbrook MVP this year- slip a little)
6. Portland Trail Blazers (build on last year)
7. Dallas Mavericks (a little better with Barnes I think)
8. Houston Rockets (Howard hurts a little)
9. Memphis (health & age are key)
10. Minnesota Timberwolves (should be .500 team this year, may sneak in)
11. New Orleans Pelicans (same as Timberwolves, they will bounce back this year)
12. Sacramento Kings (same old, same old)
13. Denver Nuggets (another rough year)
14. Phoenix Suns (Slightly better)
15. Los Angeles Lakers (still garbage but a little better with no Kobe 20 + wins)
A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills, and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.

Push yourself again and again. Don't give an inch until the final buzzer sounds.

I think the Bulls will sneak into the playoff picture.   Dwade is good for another few seasons before he can only be useful off the bench.   Butler obviously is a top player out of the east.  Rondo is still useful in the right environment

They also got Robin Lopez and Grant (very good trade).

My list

WEST
1. GSW
2. Spurs
3. Blazers
4. Clippers
5. Grizzlies
6. Wolves
7. Thunder
8. Jazz

EAST
1. Cavs
2. Raptors
3. Celtics
4. Pacers
5. Pistons
6. Hawks
7. Bucks
8. Bulls

I'll do this a bit differently because well, I cannot even pretend I know the final order.

East

(I put the teams in each category in order of strength as I perceive it)
Teams that almost certainly make it to the playoffs for sure: Cavs, C's, Pacers, Raps, Hawks. (behind the Cavs, the other four teams are really close, I still made a ranking just for the sake of it, but it doesn't have much value.)
Teams that should make it to the playoffs:Detroit, Charlotte, Orlando
Teams that should not make it to the playoffs: Milwaukee, Washington, Chicago, NYK
Teams that almost certainly won't make the playoffs:Miami, Philly, Nets

West
Teams that almost certainly make it to the playoffs for sure: GSW, SAS, Portland, LAC
Teams that should make it to the playoffs: Houston, Memphis, Dallas, OKC
Teams that should not make it to the playoffs:Utah, NOP
Teams that almost certainly won't make the playoffs: Minny, Denver, Phoenix, LAL, Sacramento

Like last year, more teams are in the game of playoff contention in the East than in the West.

The other thing is I feel I am being too harsh on Utah. Rosterwise, they should make it. But I feel they lack experience star leadership compared to the other West Conference teams. Moreover, Hayward might get traded mid-season.

So,

East
1. Cavs
2.C's
3. Pacers
4. Raps
5. Hawks
6.Detroit
7.Charlotte
8.Orlando
_______________

9. Milwaukee
10.Washington
11. Chicago
12. NYK
13.Miami
14.Philly
15.Nets

West
1.GSW
2.SAS
3.Portland
4.LAC
5.Houston
6.Memphis
7.Dallas
8.OKC
______________

9.Utah
10.NOP
11.Minny
12.Denver
13.PHX
14.LAL
15.Sacramento

EDIT: strikethrough typos. And gave the numerical order of the team's seeding so that I can laugh with it around x-mas.

That would have the NEts pick as tied for best odds at number 1 overall with Philly.

Going to make my predictions. Just wanted to point out that it would be awesome to aggregate the lists so we get Celticsblog forum predictions.

West
1. Warriors
2. Clippers
3. Spurs
4. Jazz
5. Blazers
6. Rockets (Harden is embarassed after last season and actually tries on defense)
7. Grizzlies
8. Mavs
9. Thunder (Westbrook is going to put up crazy numbers and they will still lose)
10. Pelicans
11. Wolves
12. Suns
13. Nuggets
14. Kings
15. Lakers

East
1. Cleveland
2. Toronto
3. Celtics
4. Charlotte (lost Lin but gained a fully healthy MKG, there defense will improve without Big Al)
5. Pacers
6. Pistons
7. Wizards (had terrible injury luck last year, if they are healthy could return to the team they had 2 years ago)
8. Hawks
9. Bucks
10. Heat (might have the Heat too low, they actually played better with Wade on the bench last year so his absence won't hurt as much as people expect)
11. Bulls (no floor spacing no playoffs)
12. Knicks (Rose was a below replacement level pg last year. Noah, Rose and Melo will all miss time due to injury)
13. Magic
14. Nets
15. Sixers
« Last Edit: August 06, 2016, 11:28:49 AM by Evantime34 »
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yup you heard it. The Warriors are going to get the #2 seed when they keep losing during the season because of their lack of bench depth.  8)

Yep. Brooklyn is really bad. IMO it has the worst roster of all teams. The only thing is that their management (unlike Sacramento or Philly) has zero incentive to tank. But even so, they are not getting out of the bottom 5.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't get why people are so high on the Pacers. They downgraded at the 1, their pieces fit terribly, and they downgraded at coach. A 4-8 seed? Sure. A 2-3 seed? That's insane to me.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.
