At that level, the difference comes down to just how hard you want it.

I am liking Brown's skill set and athleticism, but it is really going to come down to the above. Much like Smart, Crowder, AB, IT, and even Amir, Jaylen seems to have an intrinsic motivation that could really lead him somewhere. Unlike those guys, there are no real limitations to his size or athleticism.

The Cs clearly have an identity and Brown fits right in. Unfortunately, he is likely not to get as much time as other top rookies (due to being on an excellent team), and therefore will be labeled a bust pretty early on. That will be annoying.

Watching him in Summer League made me think he could play the 2 as well.  Good enough ball handler, obviously assuming the shooting comes around.  Would be nice to have a guy who could match up with the Klay Thompsons of the NBA.

I thought so, too, and that gives him a size and length mismatch most nights over his matchup.

Or be labeled "Gerald Green, Take Two".  (Oh, the irony!)

But I think that you can be confident that management and coaching know what they've got – and his teammates soon will, too.

I am interested to see his defense on NBA PFs if it happens (we will see it on some switches at the least sometimes)

I have some doubts. He has kind of a narrow base – great for changing direction but maybe not optimal for holding his ground with bigger guys.

but one area I like is his rebounding, which was encouraging in SL I thought.  He showed a willingness to work for rebounds and he has an ability to bring down a defensive rebound and take off down the floor himself which I like a lot.

Also check his steals, out of which he equally can take off.  The guy has some nifty hands.

Let's hope Brown is a luckier name than Green (s)

He's not the best player today at 3 but he has the biggest upside potential for the 3 pick.  I hope like hell he's untradable for at least 2 years.

Pretty much.

Given what he's shown, he should get every chance to develop into a lifetime Celtic.

I bet you're fun at parties huh?
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Yes, I got it. For what it's worth, I was being sarcastic, too - an unholy alliance of Alan Greenspan and Hot Rod Hundley.

It's all good, friend.

None of us really knows the future of Jaylen Brown (or any other player) - not Ainge, not Brown himself.  On a forum like this irrational cynicism is a lot more common than irrational naïveté.
