Paul Pierce looked done last year, to me.....   If we can't trim our roster before opening game and Doc wanted some cheap young talent on longer deals....would you pull the trigger?

RJ and Young for PP?

Absolutely.  Not happening that way, but absolutely.

I would hate to see Boston waive one of them.... It would be a feel good story to get PP back for two players that just have not gotten it yet.   And if they do end up being decent, at least we spent them on a Celtic legend.   Just to see him on the court in green again would be fun.

Visually seeing pierce back in green is worth more than those two, to me
I trust Danny Ainge

Doc could run RJ through some of those Ray Allen sets. J.J. Reddick would be a good mentor for Hunter too.

I'd be all for getting the captain back in here too. Teach Jaylen how to play.

I picked no. Because I know there is little to no chance Brown gets minutes behind Pierce and Crowder. Also C's are way too far away from a contender to be picking up a over the hill, well paid 8th man. Have to put your heart aside on this.

Of course, Pierce needs to retire a Celtic and could still probably school Jaylen.  And the other two aren't making it.  I really liked Hunter's BBIQ, but he spent 2nd half of the season in the doghouse.

As much as I like hunter
If it was to bring pierce back to Boston ala KG to Minnesota mentor role then I'm all in
Plus we r only giving hunter and young

I don't know if clippers do this as they need an established swingman for defence at SF and shooting
Do probably need to include Gerald green

Hell YES! I would LOVE to see Pierce finish his career as a Celtic. Easily one of my favorite players to ever have worn green.
But I just can't see Doc agreeing to this trade as we know how much he likes his vets.

You might but Ainge won't, he is not sentimental.

Why wouldn't Ainge do it if he's considering cutting either of the two (which he supposedly is)? I assume Pierce is still better than an average 15th man on a NBA roster.

My impulse was 'yes absolutely', but two points:
1. I am not giving up on RJ just yet.  He has a great stroke and is a smart player.  Even if he were to be traded, I think he could be better used in a different deal.
2. There's a simpler way to get PP back in green:  Sign him to a one-day contract next season.

Love our Captain, but nostalgia can kill a rebuild.  I'd rather one of these two guys be our 15th man, and the other on the D League for another year to see if either of them are ever going to be able to be truly productive in the NBA.

Paul Pierce brings memories...but at this point, I'm not sure what else.

Now, if we were to bring him in along with Blake like that "rumor" has, I'd be open to it.  But a stand alone trade involving Pierce, even for unproven talent...gotta go with my head over my heart.

Sadly, it became even CLEARER to me this Summer League exactly how SLOW RJ really is.  He might be one of the slowest guards in the league!!!
