The realGM dude has made a lot of statements designed to imply that some sort of trade is close to happening, and not that a two minute conversation might have occurred. He implied that Ainge and others flew to San Diego to sell Blake on signing an extension with the Celtics. He implied that people sharing his forum posts got him into trouble because it somehow killed a deal.
This entire thread is about what this RealGM guy has said -- it's in the frickin title. Of course I'm going to debate that he's a fraud here. And there are at least three other similar threads, all based on that dude's supposed knowledge, and that's just at this website alone. I assure you there would not be so many threads if he hadn't done his very best to say that something might happen.
If you want to say "I think that Ainge has asked about players, and therefore I'm correct" then go ahead. But that's not what has caused this conversation. It is very explicit posts with explicit "this is what I've heard the deal will be" pieces of information from "multiple sources."
Anyway, dude is making things up. Whether he's fooling himself because he's a Celtics fan and taking a bunch of people with him for the ride, or misleading people on purpose because he likes the attention, I can't say for sure. I'd guess it started out as the former and morphed into the latter. By regardless, if you don't believe the guy either, then don't debate me about not believing him!
You seem to be reacting to him the same way most people react to deadmik3, but I think the 2 are on completely different levels. That deadmik3 dude is literally some random fan with not even a hint of a real connection to any nba insiders. He very clearly is obsessed with twitter followers, attention, going back and forth with fans, etc.
Smitty is completely different from these random wannabe Wojs. He is around NBA circles, writes respectable articles on the game with interviews and such, and has reiterated multiple times he does not give out these tid-bits that he's heard because he wants to scoop the insiders. If he just wanted attention, to create a buzz, or to predict big trades before they come out, why wouldn't he just go straight to twitter every single time like the deadmik3s of the world? It's because he actually is trying to build a reputation as an NBA writer. You're not going to gain any respect by tweeting out fake trade rumors and speculation.
For me it's pretty easy to see who might have legit connections and who is making
Edited. Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. up. Deadmik3 literally proclaimed the Griffin deal would be announced over a week ago. He fights with fans, makes fun of people, flip flops, and doesn't even understand basic facts about the NBA (he once claimed celts were giving up first, seconds, and THIRD rounders in a Griffin deal!) Smitty just doesn't come off the same way, he is a professional. He passes on info that he hears, and admits that was he hears might not be 100% credible. I don't understand why someone would want to lie about info that they themselves admit might not be 100% credible?
I suggest you go read some of his work, he's not the clown you pin him to be.
FYI I frequent both forums and value many posters on each.
