2/16 (2nd unguaranteed) for Zeller. Vet minimum for Green, 1 year.

8 mill a year? Yeesh I'd rather have Sully for 6

You have to give him more for the unguaranteed second year. He's now a valuable salary-matching tool, like Amir last year.

Yeah. Once we get to next season and lose Amir/Jonas, we just won't have many large chunks of salary on the team. We need Zeller's 8 million on the books to match salary if we want to sign a star in free agency and then add another through trade.

Oh, no.  This is ridiculous.  Zeller is trash.  C'mon!

Looks like they didn't end up using Bird rights, given the amount paid.  This Zeller can be traded beginning December 15th instead of January 15th.

So, Zeller becomes this season's version of the Amir/Jerebko contracts from last year.

At least Sully would rebound. Zeller can't, so I'm not sure what help he provides save for another large body if someone gets hurt.

I hate this move - unless there's something else coming.

At 8 mill per with a team option Zeller isn't a bad piece to add to a trade at some point. Cheap big that the team controls whether they want to bring back. He is paid half of what Mozgov is.

Here is a scenario I could see unfold.

*Brooklyn starts off the season crappy and continues to be crappy as the trade deadline approaches.
*The Kings start off crappy and continue to be crappy as the trade deadline approaches and Cousins is  beyond fed up.
*The 2017 draft class continues to be very hyped up as the trade deadline approaches. Increasing the value of that pick in the eyes      of other teams.
*Celtics maintain some cap space and stay under the cap.
*Celtics make a deal with the Kings centered around the 2017 pick. The deal is dependent on Cousins agreeing to an extension (like      what Houston and James Harden did). Which he might be willing to concede to do to get out of Sacramento.

Precisely.  I will be curious on the guarantee date, however.  Due to the potential of a lockout, an early July guarantee has less utility next season.

Also, both Johnson and Jerebko performed well enough to stick around for the full contract.  The frontcourt is less crowded this year (no Lee, Olynyk hurt to start) -- perhaps Zeller can find a rhythm to start the season and perform like he did two seasons ago.

I'm disappointed, I was hoping we could finally get past Zeller. I can't believe we can't do better than Tyler Zeller.

Money doesn't matter to me at this point, it's all about contract length. 1 year plus a team option is ideal. Well done, Danny.

Ideally I would have wanted Sully on the same deal, but he was determined to be an UFA next year.

The difference is that Zeller can be traded mid-season on this contract, whereas Sully would have had the ability to veto any trade.  My gut says Sully and his agent would never accept a deal like this, unless Sully were paid at least double what he got.  There will be a lot of money tossed around in free agency next year, as in this one, and he'll want to try that as an unrestricted free agent.

Cheer up. It's not like he is going to start for us now that we have Horford.

If Zeller would learn to shoot threes, he would be more valuable.

Zeller is the perfect backup C who gives you Offense. No defense, but offense which is maybe where your at in todays game with bench players

Unless a deal is made roster is set:
Crowder
Kol
Bradley
Brown
Green
Smart
Horford
Rozier
Jackson
Zeller
Jerebko
Johnson
Thomas
Mickey
One spot left between hunter, young and Bentil

No Jackson. And both Hunter and Young are under contract

Starting

Horford
KO
Crowder
AB
IT

Amir/Zeller
Jerebko/Mickey
Green/Brown
Smart
Rozier

Reserves
Young
Hunter

So Jackson will sign and one of Hunter or Young will be out?

Wyc/Ainge are usually stingy. But maybe they had enough of Young
