Steve Bulpett ‏@SteveBHoop: Celtics bringing back Tyler Zeller on a 2-year deal, with the second season at team option.

I don't like him, but glad that we can cut ties next season if it doesn't work out.

Update: Salary
Quote
Steve Bulpett: Per sources, Gerald Green to get 1 yr deal at vet minimum (little more than $1.4 million); Zeller 2 yrs at $8 mil per, only 1st guaranteed.

I was hoping we saw the last of him in green.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Any idea on the money? I guess it doesn't really matter on a one year deal, but I hope he got less than Sully
I'm bitter.

If we didn't sign him, would some else have?

I hope this is a precursor to a deal of some sort. A lot of dead weight on this roster.

I'd rather have Sullinger than Zeller. Tougher on the boards, though he isn't a center like Zeller.I said before Zeller has Stevens connections in Indiana, where  he has a bigger name (didn't sway Larry Bird on him, though). I don't know if that's a factor, since Stevens didn't play him much after the fiasco early last season starting him with Lee.

More so, to me it signals the end of Ainge's quest for a "star." A difference maker. And he has repeatedly passed up opportunities to upgrade at the 5. Unless there  are some surprises with guys who step up, I see this team as another middling 50 win team--at best.   Danny isn't there yet, despite all the hype from Wyc.

Probably gave him a larger deal than you'd expect so he can be used in a trade.

Doubt anyone would rate Demetrius Jackson above Hunter.

Jackson was horrible during summer league averaging more turnovers than assists lol.

League sources saying Jackson is in and the last spot is a battle between hunter young

Didn't see he was offered a guaranteed deal until now. Seems weird that DA would rate him above Hunter given his poor play during summer league.

Then again, the signing might signal a trade? Doesn't make sense that we will be having 4 point guards on this team. Rozier to Philly in exchange for Okafor? Interesting to see how it will pan out ::)

I'd rather have Horford-Zeller than Horford-Sullinger. The Horford signing made Sullinger too redundant. Say what you want about Zeller but he fits into what ever role is asked if him. He's a Stevens guy and can work well in an up and down system filling the lanes on a fast break.

I'm rooting for Mickey but honestly glad to have TZ back in case Mickey isn't ready to step into the 4th big man spot in the rotation. Agree that his contract might be high in dollar value to be used as contract fodder in a trade.

Welcome back Tyler Zeller.

Would tend to agree. A glut of pgs on this roster.
