Don't know if it's been said, but it's kind of fun to see old pieces of KG and Allen trades coming back.

We've had jeff green, gerald green, and now we just need Big Al and telfair. Who else did we send out?

Wally Szczerbiak and Theo Ratliff are not walking through that door.
haha, TP

They're cooked
I trust Danny Ainge

Solid signing.

Not sure why people are worried about JB.

If Brown's ready to play he will take those minutes. If not, we have Green who is a vet who can serve as a replacement-level bench guy.

Also gives us flexibility in terms of what we need off the bench. GG will be a designated shooter and floor spacer in end-of-game (playoff) situations, even if Brown gets minutes earlier in the game.

Green was the lowest basketball IQ I've ever seen in a Celtics uniform. Hopefully he's figured out the game a little bit by now.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Steve Bulpett: Per sources, Gerald Green to get 1 yr deal at vet minimum (little more than $1.4 million); Zeller 2 yrs at $8 mil per, only 1st guaranteed.

Crazy that Green isn't offered more than the minimum :o

I have to imagine he was. Not that there were any mega-deals out there for him or anything. This seems more like Green begging to be a part of the Cs because he really liked it here before. Danny probably looked around for better options and was finally like, "fine, dude, you can play for us, but only at the minimum." I think Green just wanted to find a comfortable position.

The last part seems to be spot on ;D:

Yeah, it is.
Career:  8.9 ppg on 20 minutes  2.4 Rebounds.

When he plays more, he scores more.
28 minutes per game   15.8 points per game.

His problem has always been buying into the defensive end of the court. I believe that Green is worth more to Boston than Zeller.    Athletic Wing who can shoot and score.  All for Vet
minimum.

Suddenly, this is an extremely athletic team.
The move addresses two needs: shooting and athleticism.

Also removes any pressure on Jaylen to be the reliable backup SF right away.

Put as delicately as I can:  I don't see a role for James Young on this team anymore.

Green is a classic role player--he shoots threes. He will get you double figures every game. Brown is a different type of player. Stevens will use these guys to advantage at different times. Something he excels at.

double figures every game?

i like signing, but that may be a little optimistic

He put up 9 per game in 22 mpg last year, so that's pretty accurate.
So not only did he not score double figures every game, he didn't even average double figures.

I don't know that he really has it figured out (or that he ever will), but he's definitely improved since he started with us and he earned roster spots in PHX and MIA, so we'll see

Lousy signing, but it can easily be remedied, so no real harm done

I called it about two weeks ago. TP, Footey.

Did you just give yourself a TP?

No. Wish I could. LOL.

A very nice (and cheap) under the radar move.

That bench desperately needed some scoring and GG can certainly do that. Brown is raw and needs time so his minutes aren't exactly a huge concern right now. He'll play when he's ready.

I do like the athleticism on this roster right now.

Perfect example for Brown to see first hand
