Bye-bye playing time for Jaylen Brown...

Please let it only be for one year.
No way in heck he takes minutes from Brown ( unless gg turns into a defensive beast.
He's here as a deep bench shooting specialist.

He may push young, bentil and Jackson off the bench ( hopefully saving room for Nader).

Gerald Green didn't sign here on the off chance that he may get garbage minutes in blowouts. He was a very good sparkplug off for Miami last year and Wade loved him (at least at the start of the year). Brown will certainly see his minutes limited. They are both SFs and even if you wanted to put one of them at guard, you really can't unless Rozier is not in the Cs plans.
He was a pretty good sparkplug maybe in the games that you saw.  Check his numbers for the year.  Huge regression last year.  But then again his career has always been up and down and out of the league and into the league.

Did you just give yourself a TP?

Before this deal the Cs were relying on Hunter or Brown to give them back up minutes at the three. Now they have a vet who can play until one of them earns their minutes.

Curious to see if the Celtics pull their offer to Zeller today. If he signs none of their second rounders will make the team.

CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

One year guaranteed.

I can't believe there are people following this team still worried about the growth of Jaylen brown or any of the younger guys for that matter.

if any Celtics fan truly wanted Brown to play more than 10 mins. a game with the expectations of this team still being the #2 or #3 team in the east then the case of who is keeping crack on the streets is solved.

Cheap guys who provide offense don't provide a lot of defense. Life is a compromise, Danny. You need a mix.

This is a great signing.  Green is athletic, can shoot the 3 and his defense has improved significantly since the last time he was in Boston.  He can be an important piece in the 2nd unit. Ainge was reportedly interested in him last year as well.  This might be Boston bolstering its line-up, or a sign that there are more moves on the way.

Gerald Green was the James Young before James Young was.  Perhaps we'll see Young back in 6 years, more mature and ready to play.

Green is a 1 dimensional player.
No D, no handle. He is a 3 point specialist who will give you an occasional highlight dunk in transition.

He is here for that purpose and will take the 5-15 minutes we were giving young and Hunter.

I know he was the #3 pick, but worrying about minutes for a 19yo rookie on a 50 + win team doesn't really seem that pressing to me. He can and should be moved along slowly.

I think that was true for along time.  He used to watch the ball and lose his man, his help defense was late, and he had a hard time playing topside of pick and roll's, never fighting through the contact. However, in the last few years his defense has improved.

In Boston, we play defense.  So will Green.
