  • Let's Go Celtics!
They've gotten worse from last year imo

They lost bogut who was a wide body for setting screens and clogging the paint although he was horrible for picking up fouls

They lost festus he was also large and could protect the paint

They lost an important piece in speights who began to shoot 3's effectivley mid-season and was just a great scorer

Lost Barbosa who gave really effective minutes in the short burts he came in for at either end of the floor

They got pachulia who is a post defender but cant block shots

West who can shoot mid range jumpers and thats about it he might practice more 3's in this system but  cant defend what so ever

Got KD who is of course a top 5 player

There starting 5 is amazing but there is only 1 ball and you cant effectivley use 4 superstars in the same lineup

This is wishful thinking. Bogut was a big body for them, but he only played 20 minutes a game last season. Speights is a decent scorer, but he played like 12 minutes a game. They played small the majority of the game as their primary lineup was Curry/Klay/Iggy/Barnes/Draymond - they essentially replaced Harrison Barnes with Kevin Durant. Any scoring they miss of the bench can effectively be replaced by playing Curry, Klay or KD with the 2nd unit.

And yes, there's only 1 ball but Curry and Klay are so good off the ball that it really won't matter. This is isn't Lebron and Wade all over again, these are some of the best shooters the league's ever seen. Can you image Iguodala running a pick and pop with KD with Curry and Klay in the corners? Who do guard?
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Im letting Iggy take the shot and hoping his back falls apart again, then running Curry in every P/R or posting KD. Still wishfull thinking though  :(

Wouldn't want him.

We'd lose the Cavs, and then he'd go join up with Lebron!

Golden State might run the table on the entire season this year
impossible. the celtics are slated to go 82-0 this year, so the best GS can hope for is 80-2. and of course 0-4 in the finals against the celtics.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Not quite. In true Celtics fashion, we'll also go 80-2, with our only losses when we split the season series with Brooklyn.

Bench took a hit. Probably fewer reg season wins but a clean road to the chip.
Did their bench take a hit?  I thought they added guys like David West.  Hopefully the guys they have can hold their 100 point leads every night.

David West is the new David Lee.

Nope.
I bet their record is worst than this past year was.

I expect 70 wins. wouldn't be shocked to see the record broken again, but certainly wouldn't expect it..

Doubt they'll go for the record again this year. They'll rest down the stretch, especially with a more top-heavy team this year. Were a bit lucky to win as many games as they did last year anyway, so even if they went for it not sure they'd manage.

Warriors lost (with minutes)

Barnes - 2042
Bogut - 1451
Barbosa - 1079
Rush - 1055
Speights - 832
Ezeli - 770
Thompson - 179 (he left early and wasn't on post season roster)

Warriors replace those with

Durant
Pachulia
West
And the rookies Jones and McCaw

Plus they have another year from Looney who only played 21 minutes last year.

They clearly lost some depth, but Durant, Pachulia, and West basically make up the vast majority of the minutes they lost.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Yep, I do not think depth will be much of an issue, esp. since in the playoffs you play less players anyway. Getting Pachulia at a bargain price helped them plug a big hole in their roster with the departure of Bogut and Ezeli.

I still hope they somehow fail, but on paper they are even better than last year.

Have been wanting to get on the record about my prediction that GSW, while they will undoubtedly be in the WCF, won't be as dominant as everyone thinks.
