Guy's a 7'2 shotblocking monster with a post game and a midrange j.  Already drawing comparisons to Marc Gasol.  In a draft where we had eight picks we passed on this guy four times before he got drafted by LA.

I liked Zizic a lot more pre-draft. He's proven he can hold his own against pros, and he's more athletic than Zubac. Zubac is bigger and I think he's been on draft radars for longer, but injuries have kept him from really proving that he can play with the big boys.

Everything I read had Zizic as the better of the two.  I think Danny scored a big one with him.

Are we really calling draft misses based on summer league?  Not to mention that Zizic didn't play, and could very well have done better than Zubac if he had.  It's one thing to say that you really like Zubac and think he'll be a good player, or that you wished we had taken him, but saying that we screwed up by taking Zizic over him makes no sense
I'm bitter.

you might want to rewrite your post to read "EVERYONE passed on Zubac before he got drafted by LA." it seems lots of GMs thought he has a limited game.

i would not have minded if the celtics had picked zubac. he is a more traditional center than zizic and certainly less athletic.

do a quick look at draftexpress' "strengths" videos for these two. they both look good (hey, it is after all the strengths videos). but you can see a real difference in style between them. for me, zizic seemed the better fit with the celtics.

Summer league is meaningless. Isn't worth a moment of anyone's attention.

But ... I suspect there will be several miss comparisons from this draft before we're done.

He's pretty solid.
Would like to have seen more Pick'n'roll/pop actions from him. Seems like the old school post player.

I wish we had drafted both (Zubac at 31) instead of making that Memphis trade.

Part of the reason we drafted Zizic is because he could be stashed. The same was not true of Zubac. I'd much rather have control of Zizic starting next year or the year after than have control of Zubac starting now.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Zizic is better

He may well be, eventually...

Of course you and several other posters are COMPLETELY missing the point.

This isn't a case where we could only have one or the other.  Zizic was picked 23rd in the first round.   Zubac was picked 32nd in the second round. We had the 31st pick but drafted Deyonte Davis and traded him to Memphis. Subsequently we also held picks 35, 45, 51 and 58 - all of which could have been consolidated by making a trade up for Zubac.

I would have liked to have grabbed Zubac at 31 if we were keeping the pick with the thought of taking a second chance for a center (with Zizic being our first).

Disappointed Zizic didn't play this summer but by all accounts, he was considered the better prospect of the 2.

consolidating those picks to get Zubac would mean moving them for a late first rounder (since we already had 31 and were trading it apparently).  it would require giving him a guaranteed contract and could cause issues for the team if he refused to stay overseas.
