I've seen a number of different players come up, lately, as projections for Brown down the road, so I thought that I'd just devote a thread to this topic in the name of consolidation.  Feel free to explain your reasoning for your views, or not, as the case may be, lol ;D.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Never understood the Jeff Green or Jae Crowder. I actually see Jaylen Brown as a more fierce version of Stanley Johnson and Winslow. He fits the typical mold of the 3 and 4 point forward, that can score in transition, switch and defend from 1-3, and possibly 4? With the potential of becoming a two way player.

Green was never ever a two way player, no matter how much we defended him. He was a terrible defender, always ranked horribly on analytics, and was just an lackadaisical player to ever even scorch the threshold of hustle defense.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply

A more Boston friendly version of Jason Richardson. They're about the same exact size, I believe, hyper athletic and useful on both ends.

In my wildest dream .... Michael Jordan.

I know the skill level is nowhere near there yet, but honestly that's my best comparison athletically.

Is that just because of those two fadeaways, lol ;D?

I think Jimmy Butler is a nice optimistic-but-not-laughable comp.

I think his ceiling is a more two-way oriented mix of Derozan and Westbrook.

Butler is also a good comp.

  • That's turrible
This may sound outlandish, but I'll say Tracy McGrady. Immediately? Justise Winslow. In terms of long term ceiling though, definitely T- Mac. But better defense. When he polishes his game, he'll get wherever he wants, just like Mac Daddy.

I don't get the Jae comp at all. Jae's biggest weaknesses are his inability to create offense and (to a lesser extent) his underwhelming athleticism. Jaylen is a freak athlete and excellent at creating his own offense.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I know this sacrilegious but I just think about Jordan when I see him fly for those dunks. It is a comparison therefore I am not saying he will get to that height, but I see Jordan's game.

I also think a lot will depend on who  he is playing with. If he had a Rondo type PG then think James Worthy.

Somewhere between Harrison Barnes and DeMar Derozan.

Maybe Corey Maggette.

Jeff Green for sure---the way he can get to the hoop.

Hated the Pick---but I'm coming around on it.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

I just went and watched some Maggette highlights.

Yeah. That's what I'm going with. Corey Maggette.

I used to really like Maggette so I'm OK with that.

Played fourteen seasons and averaged 16 points a game over that span. Topped out as a wing averaging 10 FTA per game.

Only made the playoffs once though, and he was mostly a bench guy for that run.
