I don't want to root for a player who has killed as many coaches as he has. Watch what happens if he comes here. We'll lose our coach, our souls, and then a whole lot of games. How many relationships does he have to destroy to satisfy you people that he is a CANCER (to his team and to the league).
In the 10 year period spanning from 2005 to 2015, the Sacramento Kings have had 9 lottery picks.
Out of those 9 lottery picks, how many of those players have established careers as major impact players?
Two - Isaiah Thomas, and Demarcus Cousins.
What does this tell you about the Sacramento Kings and there ability to develop talent? They suck at it.
You have to go back to the Webber / Peja days to find an point in time where the Kings were actually a winning franchise. Since then they have been a losing lottery team, with useless ownership and management, and a horrible team culture.
People try to blame Cousins for the poor culture there, but that existed become he even arrived in the NBA. The culture was crap back in 2009 when Tyreke and Jason Thompson were their top two prospects.
Does anybody remember what people thought of Isaiah Thomas when he was in Sacramento? Nobody here wanted him - everybody labelled him a selfish chucker who couldn't win games. Then he came to Boston and within a season he's leading us to the playoffs and playing in the All-Star game.
There is a dramatic change in culture going from the Kings to the Celtics. Nobody can pretend to know how Cousins would be here - he may still be an out of control tool, or he may absorb the culture and turn things around completely, as Zach Randolph did in Memphis. Until he's here nobody knows, and he's an impressive enough talent that he's worth taking that gamble on. If there is any one team in the NBA that could turn him around, it would be the Celtics - with Brad's coaching, Danny's dedication to winning, and the constant exposure to all of those banners.
