He may not be as available as people think.

They still have Westbrook, though, at least for a year. He's an unrestricted free agent next summer himself, and can make this same kind of decision to play elsewhere. Those inside the Thunder organization were long concerned about outside forces swaying Durant to leave; they don't feel that way about Westbrook. As one team source said: This will only make him want to stay more.

right...

He is so gone, they better not make the same mistake twice.

Fair enough. Obviously, Danny will inquire. But it'll be interesting to see how it plays out with IT. Westbrook is undoubtedly an upgrade at the PG spot, but do you trade or demote a guy who just pitched you in free agency?

He'll go to the Lakers if anything.

Not interested in him here.

Not so sure about that after their signings this offseason. They now don't have room for two max contracts next offseason, iirc. And he's certainly not joining their team with what they have now.

That can all change quickly. Look at the Celtics. We didn't look that promising a year ago. If Ingram shows potential and Russell and Randle continue developing it could look promising to Westbrook.

Looks like the Thunder are going to try and extend Westbrook, and if that doesn't work they'll look to trade him.

I can't imagine that he'll agree to an extension.

IT and a few future non brk picks.

Don't think teams will offer more than that

Can we trade and extend for him this summer if possible? I think Ainge would sell the farm for him of that is possible.

Players of his caliber just don't come available very often.

I've always been a very big Westbrook fan, just not on the same team as KD.

They did that before with Nick Collison - renegotiate his expiring deal and giving him an extension. I can see them doing that with Russell. At this point (based on everything I'm reading) I'd put it at a 50/50 shot.

Just can't see Westbrook agreeing to stay there without Durant when he'll have plenty of better suitors.

  • GOT IT!!!
I don't want Westbrook on this team. Just keep plugging along. How you going to bash the guy and say he's the reason Durant should leave then want him on the team? Don't be a hypocritical sports fan...

Does IT + Nets '17 get it done? If so, let's make it happen.

Such as? The name I keep hearing is the Lakers, but I don't think they have a better team or better management. The only way I see him willingly going there is if he really wants to play in LA. The Clippers have CP3, Warriors have Curry. Grizzlies just committed a historic amount to Conley. Blazers have Lilliard. Maybe the Rockets? The Spurs if Popp wants him?

Gotta make the call for sure.

With Durant gone and Westbrook a FA next year, OKC has to at least listen. If not for anything else, the actual sake and future of the franchise. OKC is not a powerhouse franchise, especially without Durant.

Beware, because they'll want to empty us out.

They have no leverage to empty us out. Its trade him or lose him for nothing like KD.

ESPN are reporting that if Westbrook doesn't re-sign they will look to trade him.

We have all the pieces to get this done

He's on an expiring deal. Do we really want him for just one year?

Also not high on giving up a BKN pick or two for him.
